Piaggio Commercial Vehicles will be attending the UK
National Low Carbon Vehicle Event this week held at
Millbrook Proving Ground and will be displaying a
Piaggio Porter electric MPV available for test drives.
The event is hosted by Cenex, the organisation committed
to the development of low carbon transport.
The Porter electric vehicles have minimal running costs and
are therefore ideal for businesses operating small fleets of
vehicles in busy cities. Exempt from Congestion Charging and
Vehicle Excise Duty, opting for a Porter electric van could
give rise to significant savings, making a perfect solution
for businesses looking to save money.
The Porter electric vehicles are very environmentally
friendly as they use maintenance-free long life Lead-Gel
batteries which produce zero emissions. The batteries are
stored underneath the vehicle therefore the load area is not
reduced. All Porter electric vehicles have a range of
approximately 80 miles and are simple to charge via a
choice of two methods; a standard 8 hour charge through a 13
amp socket or a faster 2 hour charge using 3 phase supply.
Highly compact, the Porter electric vehicles have impressive
manoeuvrability making it easy to get to the most restricted
locations. The Porter panel van has twin side loading doors
and a full height opening rear tailgate, making access to
load and unload very easy as this is possible from all sides
of the vehicle. Currently the Porter electric range is
available in 6 different body types; Panel Van, MPV, Pick
Up, Big Deck, Tipper and Chassis Cab. Payload capacities
range from 440kg for the electric MPV to 560kg for the
electric Big Deck, with the electric van capable of 470kg.
The Piaggio Porter range is also
available in petrol in 2 wheel-drive and 4 wheel-drive
versions in the same body types. Prices in the UK start from
£6,495; the Porter range has been awarded What Van? Best
Microvan for four consecutive years now.
