Pininfarina has revealed more information about its Sintesi concept car, this time detailing how it will incorporate the ability to communicate with external information sources and other vehicles.

Pininfarina has released further information that offers more detail to its 78th Geneva Motor Show-bound Sintesi concept car project, revealing the advanced thinking behind the designers' work that has been enabled by its use of new communication technologies.

After outlining the fundamental ideas behind its alternative 'environmentally friendly' propulsion system, mechanicals, chassis design and construction, and their smooth integration, Pininfarina has entitled its latest 'magazine' style release of information under the heading of "Transparent Mobility".

Discussing the concept, which will debut in just three weeks time, of 'transparent mobility' Pininfarina says: "In this scenario we have considered the car not as an isolated object but as part of an integrated system that communicates and interacts continually with other elements. Vehicles acquire awareness of the surrounding environment and interact with each other according to traffic requirements. A scenario in which it will be possible to display all the information currently provided by the infrastructure (traffic light, road signals) inside the vehicle."

As well as communicating and responding to external information, the concept car will also be able to effectively communicate with other vehicles on the road that it comes into contact with. "Sintesi is equipped with Clancast technology and it can interconnect automatically with other vehicles," say Pininfarina, "creating a real "living connective tissue" on which travels every kind of data. A completely de-centralised data-transmission network where cars can communicate with other vehicles, their status and particular events. A network where security and traffic information can travel updated in real time."

With its ground-breaking design ideas, futuristic styling and packaging of innovative new ideas, the Pininfarina Sintesi is set to be one of the most important and interesting presentations to be made at next month's Geneva Motor Show. This technological 'showcase' will be unveiled to the media on 4th March.
