Giorgetto
Giugiaro will unveil a new concept car at the Geneva
Motor Show at 2:40 pm on 4th March as the famous Italian designer
celebrates the 40th anniversary of his company
Italdesign in the design and engineering business, and today a teaser photo
offers a first clue as to the new project.
Giugiaro
founded the legendary Italdesign firm in Turin in 1968
and he will celebrate its 40th anniversary at the 78th
Geneva Motor Show by pulling the wraps off a special new
project.
Italdesign, the renowned
design and engineering house responsible for a whole
swage of iconic designs including the first Volkswagen
Golf, the Alfa Romeo Brera and the Fiat Grande Punto,
among many others, has fuelled the public’s dreams for
40 years with its elegant and dynamic coachwork.
Giugiaro
traditionally showcases its products at the Swiss show
and last year it unwrapped the Vad.Ho concept an
innovative, futuristic sportscar that was hydrogen
powered and packaged its passengers in an unusual line
astern formation. Vad.Ho was complimented on the stand
last year by the Ford Mustang concept that was
reinterpreted by the master designer. In recent years
Giugiaro has presented several interesting concepts in
Geneva including the Alfa Romeo Visconti (2004), a large
flagship saloon study, and the Toyota Alessandro Volta
(2004), a hybrid sportscar interpretation.
The 78th Geneva
International Motor Show will be held from the 6th to 16th
of March. Over 130 worldwide and European premieres have
been announced, coming from every sector of the industry.
The trend towards new technologies and alternative fuels is
continuing. Visitors will discover three new manufacturers
and many attractions both inside and outside the halls of
the Geneva Palexpo. Close to 1,000 brands from some thirty
countries will be presented by around 260 exhibitors. It has
been possible to increase the net exhibition surface thanks
to the new Hall 71, bringing the total to over 77,550 m2.
