Lamborghini
has this afternoon presented a second close up teaser
image of the new car it plans to unveil to the world at
the 78th Paris Mondial de l'Automobile during the French
motor show's press day on October 2nd, but the image
only serves to throw up more questions than it provides
answers.
This second
image shows the left hand front corner of the vehicle
and it offers the clear possibility of a front engined
car, with the power unit mounted centrally well back, as
the impression is given of a long upwards sloping
bonnet. Speculation that the car unveiled in Paris next
month could be the final version of the Murciélago
LP640, the Superveloce, which will see the
eight-year-old supercar up to its expected end-of-life
next autumn are diminished as the image shows a vehicle
which has the A-pillar positioned further back than the
V12-engine coupé. The Superveloce could now be shown at
the Los Angeles show at the end of November, Bologna in
December or even next January's North American
International Auto Show in Detroit.
The new
image shows distinct alloy wheels shod with 295/65
Pirelli PZero Rosso tyres and perforated discs and large
calipers. The front betrays a carbon-fibre lower spoiler
which may offer visual harmony with the similar material
rear splitter seen on the original image. The photo also
shows Lamborghini tradition in the body surfacing and
the headlight.
Today's
teaser image was accompanied by the line "Not yet seen
THE Italian car", and the image reveals the colours of
the Italian flag on what appears to be a chrome strip
that runs across a narrow air vent behind the front
wheel. This follows another line, "It’s not just a new
Lamborghini, it’s a new world" that was used by
Lamborghini when they announced the project on Tuesday.
