A
distinguished place has been reserved for the
championship-winning Fiat Palio
Rally inside the Adventure Space on the spacious Fiat stand at
the 25th Salão Internacional do Automóvel in São Paulo
that is now underway. The
model on show has just wrapped up the Brazilian Rally Championship
title in
the N3 category – a class that is reserved for cars up
to 2.0 litres, 4x2 with limited
preparation. The champion Palio 1.8R is driven by Luis
Tedesco and Raphael Furtado.
The Fiat Palio has an enviable history of
winning titles, obtained amongst the national and South
American competitions. Throughout its 13 years in Speed
Rally competitions the hatchback model has conquered no less
than 27 titles.
In 2008 Fiat Automóveis has also participated in the
Brazilian Rally Championship in the N2 class with the young crew, Fábio Dall’Agnol and
Marcelo Dalmut. The Mineiro Championship pilots are Eduardo
Cunha and Eduardo da Silva, running in the same category. In an
attitude that is pro motorsports Fiat has awarded, in all categories of
the Mineiro and Paulista competitions, the first five
independent competitors that are placed in the N2 category –
reserved for rally cars that have engines of
to 1.6 litres capacity and with very limited preparation –
that were part of the events using a Fiat model.
To participate in an effective way in the
South American rally competitions, a sport that demands the most from cars,
team and pilots, is the best way Fiat Automóveis has found to keep new
technology in constant development. And the results
obtained in the competitions in the region over the last
decade and a half clearly show off the resistance and strength
of Fiat products.
