23.01.2008 FERRARI TOP THE TIMESHEETS AS TESTING GETS UNDERWAY IN VALENCIA

FERRARI F2008

Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa planted the new Ferrari F2008 firmly at the head of the time sheets in Valencia yesterday as official Formula 1 testing got underway at the Spanish circuit.

With the first Grand Prix of the 2008 season a little over six weeks away, Ferrari have once again set the pace in pre-session testing, with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa putting the F2008 at the head of the time sheets in Valencia in Spain as official F1 testing got underway yesterday.

Last week most of the F1 teams were in Jerez and this week testing has moved on to another Spanish circuit. With ten teams testing this week, the pre-season programme in Spain provides an insight into who will be the team and drivers to beat when the 2008 Formula One season gets underway, especially with the rule changes eliminating driver aids such as traction control.

Focusing on general car set up, the Ferrari team experienced now problems during the test session yesterday, with Massa setting the fastest time of 1'12"182 during his 97 laps on track, followed by Ferrari team and F1 World Champion, Raikkonen, the Finn completing 105 laps and posting a fastest time of 1'12"721. The Williams-Toyota of Nico Rosberg was third at 1'12"838, followed by the McLaren-Mercedes drivers in fourth and fifth places, with Heikki Kovalainen, 1'13"026, getting the edge on Pedro De La Rosa, 1'13"163.

Testing continues at this circuit today, again with Massa and Raikkonen on track for Ferrari.
