Today saw
the second and last day of testing for MotoGP World
Champion Valentino Rossi with Ferrari, and although
their were worse weather conditions, they didn't however
have any influence on the celebratory mood in the pit
box of the Scuderia, the Formula One Constructors' World
Championship winning team.
A present for winning the prestigious motorbike racing
title this year, Rossi, who has previous flirted with
the idea of switching to F1 with the Scuderia, has spent
the last two days at the Mugello circuit behind the
wheel of this year's championship-winning Ferrari F2008
chassis.
Valentino Rossi could only go out on a dry track in the
morning, using the according tyres. In the afternoon
rain and low temperatures conditioned the test at
Mugello, the circuit owned by Ferrari. The Moto GP World
Champion didn't get discouraged and went out also on a
wet track: in total he drove 56 laps or 257 kilometres.
He did his fastest lap in a time of 1.24.04, while his
best lap on a wet track was done in 1.33.56. The test
session ended just before 5pm, when the visibility was
too bad to go on.
"The test went quite well," Valentino said at the end of
the day. "Unfortunately I could just go out for a couple
of laps on a dry track in the morning, but we also tried
it on the wet track. I was impressed and it went well.
The car is fantastic and all in all it was a good test.
I want to thank the guys from the Team and obviously
Luca di Montezemolo and Stefano Domenicali, who were
really committed over the last two days. I felt like a
real Formula One driver!"
