Ferrari has
confirmed the news that leading Indian conglomerate Tata
will be a sponsor in 2009, stating just before Christmas
that the logos of Tata Consultancy Services, the data
division that already is an Official Supplier to the F1
team, will appear on the red F1 cars next year.
"Ferrari is
pleased to announce the extension of its collaboration
with Tata Consultancy Services," read the statement
issued by Ferrari in Maranello at the end of last week.
"TCS, a world leader in the field of Information
Technology consultancy, has been a partner of the
Maranello Company since 2004, in the capacity of
Official Supplier. This new agreement means that the
TATA logo will be present on the Ferrari Formula 1 cars
for the next three years," concluded the press release.
TCS hasn't issued any statement regarding the
sponsorship of its own yet.
TCS already has
a four-year relationship as an 'Official Supplier' to the
Scuderia. The F1 car is the most complex and advanced car in
the world-says TCS-packing research in aerodynamics, engine
technology, brakes, tyres and modelling. It has more in
common with a jet plane than it does with a high performance
car. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) works with Scuderia
Ferrari before, during and in-between races to help their
cars go even faster. As one of the world’s fastest growing
technology and business solutions providers, TCS ensures
that all mechanical and electronic systems perform at their
optimum under levels of extreme stress. Managing pressure
and troubleshooting in a situation where every little
advantage makes a huge difference. And of course, enabling
Ferrari to experience certainty.
The Indian
company has already won a coveted 'best supplier' prize from
Ferrari, part of its Podio Ferrari awards that reward
the highest achieving suppliers. "TCS has won the Innovation
Award for their zeal and proactive attitude, the excellent
involvement in the activities of design and the contribution
in the selection of IT technologies supporting innovation,"
commented Scuderia Ferrari's then Operations Director Mario
Almondo at the time of the award. "Tata Consultancy Services
is an outstanding example of technological leadership and a
model of cultural integration and exchange."
