On a warm Spring day in South of France, the Ferrari
Challenge Dealer Team GB ended the third round of the
season with an excellent performance from the team, with
one pole position, a race win and another two podium
finishes in the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli – Coppa
Shell Championship.
Ferrari Challenge Dealer Team GB Driver Jean-Marc Bachelier
scored a stunning pole position in Qualifying 1 and
confirmed his leadership with a fantastic racewin on
Saturday evening. After starting from the front, Jean-Marc
held the lead for the whole duration of the race and managed
to keep under control the constant pressure coming from
behind, with several close encounters with other drivers
staying on top of the group. Standing on the highest step of
the podium, Jean-Marc was cheered on by the team and by
guests from the Ferrari GB dealer network who were invited
to enjoy the race weekend and the exclusive hospitality that
is offered by Ferrari GB to valued Ferrari clients.
Team Vertu Racing’s driver, Jamie Constable, started Race 1
from 2nd place and put in some fast laps which allowed him
to maintain his position throughout race. He confirmed the
situation at the end of the 45 minutes but because of a
contact with another car he was inflicted a penalty
finishing sixth. The race was topped-off by an excellent
third place for Team Vertu Racing driver Mike Cantillon
starting from position number 4. Jack Gerber in car 126
performed a very competitive race and after a couple of
spins on the tarmac even managed to improve his position by
gaining three places and finishing 18th.
Race 2 on Sunday afternoon was a concentrated rush of
adrenaline for both the drivers and fans: Jaimie, starting
from 2nd and Michael from 3rd pushed very hard to get on top
of the pack but struggled to pass Kralev in car 171 from
Kessel Racing Team who managed to keep both drivers under
control and to confirm his position at the end of the race.
Through the end of the competition when both drivers were
holding their staring positions Jaimie lost control of the
car becoming suddenly fifth, but managed to gain back one
position finishing fourth just behind team mate Michael who
ended the race confirming his 3rd.
Ferrari Challenge Dealer Team GB driver Yannick Mallegol in
car 129 mastered an excellent race gaining three positions
and finishing 8th whereas Jack Gerber, at his first season
with the Ferrari Challenge Dealer Team GB this year, had an
excellent start 2 but due to a slight spin off the tack
didn’t manage to end his race. The Ferrari Challenge is back
on track in Italy, this time at Misano, six weeks time.
The Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli
It was in 1993 with the Ferrari 348 Berlinetta that the
Ferrari Challenge first took to the race tracks of the
world. With the development of the F355 and then the
outstanding 360 Challenge, the series has grown to take in
three championships: the USA, Europe and a dedicated Italian
series. All of which offer the chance for clients to enjoy
the unique sensation of being a Ferrari racing driver with
the full support of factory trained technicians and race
crew.
The racing follows the format of any professional race
series with a three-day meeting around a weekend. There are
two distinct classes within the Ferrari Challenge: the
Trofeo Pirelli for the more experienced drivers and the
Coppa Shell for those who are new to racing.
In the European Championship, there are seven weekend race
meetings on some of the most challenging and iconic race
circuits: Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Misano, Budapest,
Nürburgring and at the World Finals in Italy (location TBC).
Each race weekend starts on Friday with free practice and
qualifying and includes 40 minute races on both Saturday and
Sunday, allowing time for the drivers to relax and enjoy the
luxury of their surroundings – this is a Ferrari event after
all.
The latest technology on the cars, the best pit crews with
the most sophisticated equipment, the most enthusiastic
Ferrari owners driving the most modern F430 Challenge cars
on the finest racing circuits can only mean one thing - The
Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli is in town.
