The Ferrari 430 was in race winning action
around the globe over the weekend with the
430GT claiming podium lock-outs in both the
Italian and Spanish GT Championships' while
the 430 Challenge supported the Canadian
Grand Prix. |

The second
round of the Spanish GT Championship, held at the Jerez
de la Frontera circuit (Spain) ended with an all-Ferrari
podium in Race 1: the victory went to the duo of Peter
Sundberg-Domingo Romero, at the wheel of a Scuderia RSV
Motorsport F430 GTA, followed home by Luis Perez Sala-Manuel
Cerqueda (Automobil Club D'Andorra) and Josep Mayola-Marc
Carol (V-Line.) In Race 2, only the third step of the
podium escaped Ferrari. At the end of an exciting final
dice, victory went to the ASM Team crew of Miguel
Cristova and Ricardo Bravo, ahead of Mayola-Carol and
Miguel Amaral-Miguel Amarel de Castro in a Detector
Drivex Porsche.
The GT2 class also saw a Ferrari lock-out on the podium
in the third round of the Sara GT Italian Gran Turismo
Championship, which was back in action this weekend at
the Magione Circuit. Taking top honours in Race 1 was
the GPC Sport F430 of Raffaele Giammaria-Alex Frassineti,
ahead of Massiiliano Busnelli-Gabriele Lancieri (Playteam
Sarafree) and Alessandro Balzan-Massimiliano Mugelli (Edilcriss
Racing Team.) In Race 2, Porsche got its revenge thanks
to Martins Cruz-Lietz (Autorlando Sport) who came home
in front of the Villorba Corse F430, driven by Alex
Caffi-Emanuele Moncini and the duo of Busnelli-Lancieri.
In GT3, Loris Kessel and Steven Earle of Team Kessel
Racing made it to the second step of the podium in Race
1, behind the Team Crinelli Corvette of Zonca-Cerrai and
ahead of Antonelli-Passuti in a Team Antonelli Porsche.
The next round of the Spanish GT and Sara GT Italian
Gran Turismo Championships will both take place over the
weekend of 29th June at the Albacete and Valencia
circuits respectively.
On the same card as the Canadian Formula 1 GP, the
Gilles Villeneuve Circuit in Montreal, Quebec hosted the
fourth round of the North American Ferrari Challenge
Pirelli Trophy. There was just one race in the one-make
series and out of 34 F430 that took to the track, the
first one past the flag was that of Zak Brown
(Scottsdale Ferrari) ahead of Jay Lee (Ferrari of
Beverley Hills) and Jeff Soffer (The Collection).
Alongside the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy races at
the next round at Mont Tremblant (Quebec) will be the
cars entered in the North American Shell Historic
Challenge series, the F1 Clienti and FXX programmes.
Recently, Mugello Circuit has been announced as the
venue for this year's traditional end of season meeting
for the Prancing Horse. The circuit has undergone
extensive renovation that has further improved the
facilities. The event which brings the racing season to
a close gets underway on Wednesday 5th November: on the
card the final and possibly decisive rounds of the
Italian, European and North American Ferrari Challenge
Pirelli Trophy, the Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge,
demonstrations of the single-seaters prepared by the F1
Clienti department, as well as the laboratory cars that
are par of the exclusive FXX Programme. An appearance by
the entire Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team brings the
curtain down on Sunday 9th November, preceded by an
on-track run for the F430 GT.
