The reborn
Abarth has broken cover in Japan for the first time at
the Tokyo Auto Salon where it has presenting its two
performance models just as the Scorpion brand makes
final preparations for its launch in the country next
month.
The brand
will arrive in earnest when the Grande Punto Abarth goes
on sale in sale in Japan on February 14th while the 500
Abarth is slated to arrive in the Spring. Interest in
the two sports models is reportedly high and Japanese
buyers have already embraced the award winning Fiat 500
which is proving very popular since it went on sale. The
1.4-litre turbocharged Grande Punto Abarth will go on
sale in Japan for 2,700,000 yen (22,431 euros) and is
available for customers to order now.
The Tokyo
Auto Salon, by NAPAC, bills itself as the world’s
largest auto exhibition with more than 600 vehicles
being on display as well as some 300 companies,
associations and schools including after-market parts
manufacturers, custom shops, car manufacturers,
automotive businesses, and automotive vocational
schools. It was the perfect venue to present the 500
Abarth and Grande Punto Abarth and other exhibits in the
halls included not only custom cars and car tuning
products but also every topic for Japanese owners and
enthusiasts including intros to customising technology
and custom car product sales. This was followed up by
live entertainment by top musicians and talk shows
hosting famous drivers and celebrities.
