This
is set to be quite an important year for Alfa
Romeo in South Africa. Within the next two
months, the first all-new Alfa Romeo since 2006,
the compact MiTo, will make its local debut.
Lauded internationally for its quality,
performance and design, the MiTo will be the
first premium brand to take ownership of the B
segment.
And to herald the resurgence of the Alfa Romeo
brand on the African continent, the Italian
caramker make a big splash at the World
Superbike (WSBK) race spectacular to be held at
Kyalami this coming Sunday (May 17). Alfa Romeo
is set one of the major sponsors of the event
and will remain so for the next three years. It
is an important arena for Alfa Romeo as the WSBK
Championship is broadcast by ninety five
television channels around the world, offering a
total of almost 3,500 hours of coverage in the
course of the racing season.
Alfa Romeo branding at the Kyalami Race Track’s
start and finish lines, a whole fleet of track
support vehicles (including the all-important
and highly visible safety pace cars), and Alfa
Romeo’s sponsorship of the Ducati Racing team
will ensure that anyone attending the event or
watching it on television will be left in no
doubt that Alfa Romeo is here, and here to stay.
500 Grand stand tickets, a dedicated Alfa Romeo
boma accommodating an extra 145 guests and the
opportunity for 30 lucky Alfisti to get paddock
passes are just some of the perks open to Alfa
Romeo fans in South Africa.
Oscar Rivoli, Managing Director of Fiat Group
Automobiles South Africa, is proud of Alfa
Romeo’s association with WSBK: “The initiative
will enjoy tremendous visibility, with an
audience including fans at the tracks, the
entire sales network and customers. It’s an
event that harmonises with Alfa Romeo’s hallmark
sporting spirit, and what with the new models
that will shortly be coming our way, it’s the
perfect marketing vehicle.”
