Singapore
has just celebrated the 44th anniversary of
its
independence, and in conjunction with the commemoration of this occasion, the Alfa Romeo Owners' Club Singapore
(AROC SG) organised a lunch with the
support of EuroAutomobile, the local Alfa Romeo importer.
The Club was fortunate to have
four classic Alfa Romeo models present for this
event – a Giulia Sprint GT, GT 1600 Junior, GT 2000 Junior and a Giulia Super
1.3 – which sat alongside modern day interpretations from the Italian brand,
including the 147, GT, 155, 156 and 159.
One of the key
activities launched during the lunch was AROC SG’s annual charity fundraiser
initiative. Unlike previous years, instead of a one-time donation, the Club has
decided to incorporate and spread its fundraising initiative over the remainder
of its 2009 events and activities. This year, the Club has nominated Sanctuary
House, which is dedicated to preventing abandonment of babies, infants and
children and to empowering biological and adoptive families. This initiative has
got off to a good start with several participants making their donation pledges.
The event
programme also included a presentation of the Club’s planned events for the
remainder of 2009 and 2010. Events and activities in 2010 will be of special
interest to Alfa Romeo owners' as some are being organised in conjunction with
Alfa Romeo’s Centenary year celebrations. Participants were also given an
insight into the development of the Alfa Romeo World Club Federation – Alfisti –
in support of the various Alfa Romeo Owners’ Club activities. AROC SG and
EuroAutomobile wishes Singapore a Happy 44th Birthday.
