One of the
largest and most valuable displays of supercars produced
by Ferrari will be on display in Melbourne on 19 April
2009 when the Ferrari Club of Victoria holds its annual
concours d’elegance at Birrarung Marr on the banks of
the Yarra in the heart of Melbourne.
“Ferrari is the
very definition of a supercar, a unique combination of
ultimate performance, the very essence of style, cutting
edge technology and the closest a road car can ever be to
Formula One,” says Trent Smyth, event organiser. “Their
rarity means that most people only see a Ferrari as a red
blur glimpsed as it disappears towards the horizon or a
handful of cars at a motor show. Our event brings together
not just modern Ferraris, but also the rarest classic
Ferraris on which this legendary company has built its
reputation in numbers that will not be seen anywhere else
not just in Victoria, but also probably in Australia.”
As a concours
d’elegance, the display cars will be in prime condition, all
vying for the prizes for the best presented cars and, with
an official Ferrari merchandise available, it will be
possible for everyone attending to take home a little bit of
the Ferrari legend. Limited edition posters will also be on
sale and the event will be raising money for Cystic Fibrosis
Victoria.
In addition to
the modern Ferrari range, the 430 in Coupe and Spider forms
and 6.0 litre V12 super cars, the Ferrari 599 GTB and the
612 Scaglietti, there will also be classic Ferraris from all
six decades of the Prancing Horse’s history, including the
limited edition and extremely rare Ferrari F40, a car
described by journalists as so extreme that it’s a Formula
One car with a body and lights to make to road legal.
