For the first time Ferrari
is dedicating one of
the company's cars to an online auction. For the
occasion a very special model has been chosen
for an equally important cause: Chairman Luca di
Montezemolo is offering his personal 599 GTB Fiorano
to sponsor young researchers working on projects
dedicated to technological innovation.
Ferrari has always promoted scientific research
and has been helping young researchers with
their work. Therefore the company is embracing the
web's opportunity to involve all its clients
into this charity auction.
"This is an
important day because its the first time in our history that
we're organised an aution online, on the internet for a
Ferrari," says Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo in a
video presentation. "This is a special one, first of all its
my own, secondly it is a fantastic car, a 599, is 12
cylinder, very innovative. I want to give this to support
some young boy that they will work in the university for
innovation, research-innovation in technology, so whatever
we get for this car it will be to support a young student
for innovative technical research," he continues, adding
that: "I will sign for you the car as a unique piece."
The Ferrari
Chairman's 599 GTB Fiorano has a total of 5,776 km on the
clock and is fitted with the model's F1 gearbox. On the
exterior it is finished in red (Rosso Monza) and features a
carbon – ceramic brake system with
aluminium calipers, as well as 20-inch monolithic wheel rims
and Run Flat Bridgestone tyres. Inside there is a charcoal leather interior trim, including head liner, rear
bench and steering wheel, with dark grey carpeting and
stitching. There are carbon-fibre trim detailing pieces in the driver's area and in its lower
sections (door panels) as well as a steering-wheel with
carbon elements incorporated and five LEDs to display
the engine rpm. Cabin equipment includes a Cascade Sat-Nav
and I-Pod.
The powerful
5,999cc V12-engined 2-door sports car will come with a certificate of authenticity
personally engraved
with Chairman Luca di Montezemolo's signature, which will be
presented to the winner of the 599 GTB Fiorano's auction
on the occasion of the handover to the new owner in Maranello.
With 12 days remaining until the auction ends, the bidding
currently stands at 185,000 euros.
