edo
competition's
latest
project
has seen
it turn
to
the Ferrari
brand
once
again,
reworking
the Enzo
supercar's
V12
engine
to bring
its
capabilities
into
line
with
Maranello's
special
track
only 800
bhp FXX.
German-based edo
competition
has
already
upgraded
both the
Enzo and
FXX, and
this
latest
project,
which it
has dubbed the Enzo XX,
backs up
the
major engine
improvements
with
changes
to the
suspension,
brakes
and
aerodynamics.
The key focus of
the Enzo XX project is however under the engine cover and a sharp power
increase
of 170 bhp
results from the core changes wrought by edo competition's
engineering team, which includes fitted
new
steel
cylinders
and
pistons
to bring capacity up to
6.3-litres
(the same
as the
factory FXX), new
camshafts,
new
Titan
valve
springs,
new
Titan
connecting
rods,
new oil
cooling
piston
pipes
and new
exhaust
manifolds.
These changes are complimented by a new
sport
catalytic
stainless
exhaust system,
sport
catalytic
converter,
sport
air
filter,
air-ram
system,
fuel
cooling
system,
new
clutch,
all
bearings
new, new
oil
pump,
new
gaskets,
and dyno
running
with all
work.
The new sports
catalytic
converter
made out
of stainless
steel
features a two
level
switch
controlled
sound
system
and new tail
pipes in
carbon,
and this means that edo completion have tapped into a current
trend amongst high performance tuners in making the volume
of the exhaust adjustable to the driver at the push of a button.
These
power
upgrades
are
complimented
by a new
ceramic
sports
brake
system,
with 396
mm disc
brakes
at the front
and 360
mm discs
at the
rear, as
well as
special
brake
pads
fitted
all
round,
while
the wheels
can be
specified
to be painted
in
different
designs. New
racing
wheels
at the front
are 10
x 19
and
fitted with
265/35 ZR 19
Michelin
tyres,
while at
the rear 13
x 20
wheels
are shod with
335/30 ZR 20
Michelins.

control
system

and
temperature

wheel.
edo competition (which recently unveiled an upgrade for the
new California to sit alongside its offerings for the F430
and 599 GTB Fiorano) also caters for design
modification
on the outside
of the Enzo XX,
for
example
a complete
different
body colour can be specified by the customer. Other changes
include independently
adjustable
dumping
technology
–
rebound
and
compression
dumping
(like on
the FIA GT
Championship's
Maserati MC12s) and an air-intake
that is
made from
carbon-fibre.
All these changes add up to an impressive claimed weight
reduction of 100 kg, while edo competition say that buying
this kit
includes one
day testing
with
an instructor,
mechanics,
data-recording,
transport
and
hospitality
on a race
track.
