Lu Hao, one of China’s most famous and most influential contemporary artists and
author of the recent and totally unique Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano China Limited
Edition yesterday
visited the Ferrari headquarters in Maranello, where he met Chairman Luca di Montezemolo.
He also visited the Galleria Ferrari, where
the artist autographed the bodywork panel
that was
used to test the paint technique used for the special one-off 599 GTB Fiorano.
The panel was donated to the museum in September and forms a part of the
currently-running Non
solo Rosse exhibition, which is devoted to the fascinating subject of colour in Ferrari’s
production history.
Lu Hao created the
one-off 599 GTB Fiorano based model which has a special paint finish that reinterpreted
the typical cracked glaze of Song Dynasty Ge Kiln porcelain. This unique car was
auctioned in Beijing last November 3 for 1.2 million euros and the proceeds of
the auction will now be used to fund the studies of students at the Tsinghua University’s Department of
Automotive Engineering that are studying at the Politecnico di Milano University (Italy)
and to undertake an internship at Ferrari’s factory.
Non solo
Rosse, opened at the Galleria Ferrari at the
beginning of last month and is a flamboyant exhibition
devoted to the fascinating subject of colour in
Ferrari’s history and output. The show tells the story
of the evolution of the colours that have become
signatures of both the Prancing Horse’s road and
competition models, using some very special cars, the
works of painter Enzo Naso and in-depth information. It
runs until April 30, 2010.
