New models from Fiat Group Automobiles,
including the Alfa MiTo and Fiat 500, have been honoured by
the readers of leading Italian automotive magazine
Quattroruote that have taken part in two surveys (Novelty
of 2008 and The Cars I Prefer 2008) with more
than 157,000 votes being received by telephone, over the web
or postcard.
The prize for Novelty of 2008 was
assigned to the Alfa Romeo MiTo which obtained 31.28 pct of
the votes. Second place went to the Lancia Delta with 17.1
pct, and third was the Audi Q5 with 11.46 pct. The precious
trophy was collected by Sergio Cravero, the new CEO of Alfa
Romeo Automobiles SpA, during the Quattroruote Day
held in Milan.
There was extraordinary success for
the Fiat Group also in the second event dubbed as -
The Cars I Prefer – which was organised by
Quattroruote magazine jointly with other trade
magazines from seventeen different countries, with the
scoring being monitored nationally.
In the ten categories envisaged in
this reader voted contest, there were six Italian cars
taking part, namely the Fiat 500, which was placed first
after an overwhelming vote in the category reserved for
city-cars (51.7 pct of votes), the Alfa Romeo MiTo
comfortably triumphed in the small car class (46.5 pct),
the Lancia Delta in the medium-small class (24.7 pct),
the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider in the cabrio class (25.9 pct),
the Maserati Quattroporte in the flagship class (41.5
pct) and the Ferrari 430 Scuderia in the sports car
class (14.3 pct).
