To further increase the competitiveness and the attractiveness of Fiat Uno Mille
Economy on the local market as well as improving the comfort levels for
occupants, Fiat Brazil has launched three new upgrade kits for the FIRE version of
this long-running and low-cost
model. The kits offer three different specification levels for the popular
B-segment hatchback and are called, TOP I, TOP II and TOP III.
The Uno was
first introduced in 1983 and although discontinued in Europe more almost a decade and
a half ago, the Uno remains a favourite choice for consumers in Brazil and is
the market’s best-selling entry-level passenger car. Recently given a mild
freshening-up by Giorgetto Giugiaro, It’s low price, coupled to
very cheap running costs and reliability see it an integral part of Fiat
Automóveis’ strategy in Brazil and the Uno Mille, which is built at the huge Betim
factory in the Minas Gerais region, is expected to continue in production until
at least 2013.
The three
new kits will widen the model’s appeal to car buyers further
and this car has become even more attractive this year
thanks to tax breaks given for buying new cars that the
Brazilian government has introduced to kick start car sales
that had fallen earlier this year due to the economic
downturn.
The entry-level
kit, known as TOP I, is composed for some items that aim to improve comfort and security,
and beyond the visual aesthetic changes, they aim to bring a distinct personality to
the model. The kit comprises of front electric windows with anti-pinch constraints,
wash/wipe for the rear screen, further switch functions in the cabin, rear seat head rests, seats
finished in a new velvet fabric, radio with CD player and MP3, new 13-inch alloy
wheels with an exclusive paint finish, highlighted painted stripes on the top
and lower door sections and the sills, as well as a dedicated "TOP" decal on the
tailgate. TOP II usefully adds power steering to this equipment list, while TOP III
comprises of the first two kits plus air conditioning and a discount of around
25 percent. The three kits are available on the Brazilian market only on the 1.0
litre FIRE version, in either 3- or 5-door specification.
The
Kit TOP I is priced at R$ 1.640 (Mille Fire Economy 3-door) and R$ 1.735 (Mille Fire Economy
5-door) on the Brazilian market while the next specification
level, Kit TOP II, is R$ 2.900 (Mille Fire Economy 3-door)
and R$ 3.040 (Mille Fire Economy
5-door). The third and highest-specification Kit TOP III
costs R$ 5.420 (Mille Fire Economy 3-door) and R$ 5.610 (Mille Fire Economy
5-door).
