The National
Business Group on Health has recognised Chrysler Group LLC
as one of the nation’s leading corporations for innovative
programs promoting a healthy workplace. Chrysler was among
63 employers that received the Best Employers for Healthy
Lifestyles Award, and it was the second time the company has
received this recognition in the past five years.
The Best
Employers for Healthy Lifestyles Award recognizes employers
that have truly embraced a culture of wellness and are
working collaboratively to improve their employees' health,
productivity and quality of life. This year, Chrysler
received a Gold Medal award for its comprehensive wellness
programs. The Company accepted the award at the National
Business Group on Health’s Joint Summit on June 25, 2009 in
Arlington, Va. “Chrysler is
extremely proud to be recognized for its commitment to
providing a healthy workplace and improving our employees’
health and well-being,” said Nancy Rae, Executive Vice
President - Human Resources, Chrysler Group LLC. "This award
is validation of our invested efforts in our employee
wellness programs."
“As one of 63
companies recognized this year for their employee health and
wellness programs, Chrysler is at the vanguard of a national
movement to promote a system-wide culture of health
emphasizing prevention, wellness, exercise and eating
right,” said Helen Darling, President of the National
Business Group on Health. “More than ever, a healthy
workforce is critical to helping America’s large employers
compete in the global marketplace. Chrysler is to be
applauded for making health and wellness an integral part of
their workplace.”
The Chrysler-UAW
National Wellness Program was implemented in 1985. Employees
participate in programs offered in a wide range of formats,
including health assessments, biometric screenings,
workshops, campaigns and health coaching. Program topics are
selected based on health assessments and screening results,
disability data and employee interests. Benefit-linked
credits are used to increase employee participation.
The National
Business Group on Health is the nation’s only non-profit,
membership organization of large employers – including 60 of
the Fortune 100 – devoted exclusively to finding innovative
and forward-thinking solutions to their most important
health care and related benefits issues. The NBGH identifies
and shares best practices in health benefits, disability,
health and productivity, related paid time off and work/life
balance issues. NBGH members provide health coverage for
more than 50 million U.S. workers, retirees and their
families.
