						More
technical information has leaked out about the final
evolution of the Lamborghini Murciélago as the Bologna
sports car maker prepares to present the project, which
will be built in a limited production run, to its
dealers and potential customers ahead of an expected
debut at the Geneva Motor Show in early March.

Lamborghini has been buoyed after the success of the
20-off Reventón sports car which saw a restyled
Murciélago with a revised interior that was themed on
the F-22 Raptor fighter jet, able to command a retail
price of 1 million euros. For this final edition of the
ageing supercar, Lamborghini will again offer
distinctive styling cues to set the car apart from the
						current Murciélago LP640.

						Expected to
be known as the Murciélago LP670-4, the new name follows
the recent Gallardo LP560-4 in adding the letter '4' to
denote the four wheel drive transmission, while the 670
refers to its increased power, it's muscular 6.5-litre
V12 engine will have 30 CV extra over the current LP640
version (with 640 CV). It is reported that the 0-100 km/h acceleration
time will be achieved in 3.2 seconds, a small
improvement over the current car's 3.4 seconds, while
overall top speed will rise by 342 km/h when the car is
specified with a standard rear wing (the more aggressive
large rear wing option limits speed to 337 km/h).

						The new car
will feature more striking looks in recent Lamborghini
style. Sharper angles are a feature at the front, and
new air intakes are sliced into the upper outer areas of
the hood. At the side of the car the door mirrors have
been redesigned, while the back is now much sharper and
the distinctive bumper protrudes further, giving the
rear end a much more aggressive look. The lower sections
of the LP670-4 SV will be finished in a matt carbon
fibre, while the upper sections, including the new
wheels, will be finished in a highly polished gloss
black. The car will come with a distinctive 'SV' badging
as an option. Inside, the cockpit will feature the
extensive use of Alcantara, while leather will be an
						option for the passenger seat.

						Under the
skin Lamborghini have targeted weight reduction as a
priority, much as they have done on recent models such
as the Gallardo Superleggera, and 100 kg is expected to
be saved, bringing it weight to around 1550 kg. The use
of carbon ceramic brakes (CCM) will be standard.

						Lamborghini
President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann is pretty upbeat
about the Bologna based firm's ability to ride out the
current global recession, releasing an upbeat year-end
statement just before Christmas; and following the
success of the exclusive Reventón, the firm will be
limiting production of the Murciélago LP670-4 to 350
numbered units to be built over the next year, and it
will be sold at a premium of 25-30 percent over the
LP640. The project is being outlined in detail to its
dealers and selected customers, along with a scale
model, at a number of locations around the world this
						month.
