For the third year running Lancia has kicked off its Riccione Vyp – No Stress Zone initiative at the busy Adriatic holiday resort town of Riccione and this year the main protagonist of this busy summer promotion will be the new Ypsilon ECOCHIC, with a fleet of sixty of these new models set to ferry guests around the area.

The Ypsilon ECOCHIC being used this season is announcing the importance - and demonstrating the merits - of sustainable motoring to guests as it aims to help take the hassle out of the summer holidays at the Adriatic resort. This year is the third consecutive summer that Lancia has teamed up with the resort for Riccione Vyp – No Stress Zone and this edition was inaugurated at the key attraction, Parc Oltremare, at the end of last month by Olivier Francois, CEO of Lancia Automobiles, Massimo Pironi, the Mayor of the City of Riccione, and Francesco Soressi, the General Manager of Parco Oltremare. Riccione Vyp – No Stress Zone is set to run until August 31.

The fleet of 60 Ypsilon ECOCHIC cars are available free-of-charge to anyone wishing to move around the area. There are five parking zones for the cars which interlock in a capillary manner, thus suggesting efficiency and promote thought in planning ones journey, a key factor in the task of reducing environmental impact. To further reduce stress, thus  the cars will also be in action at night, making transportation easier during the late hours for inhabitants of the Riviera Romagnola. The project has seen great success and in its first edition (in 2007) 11,000 journeys were made during which 30,000 passengers were transported, and reducing environmental impact. By the end of last summer's second edition this had risen to 25,000 journeys and 70,000 passengers.

Parc Oltremare is also playing host to Italian freediving champion Gianluca Genoni who holds a string of world records including a 141 metres dive in Sharm el-Sheik, on October 5, 2006, and a dive of over 18 minutes (18:03.69) at Goito (Mantova) on November 26, 2008. These are just two of the thirteen world records the 41-year-old Genoni, who weighs in at 88 kg, has set during a long career as well as winning the Freediving World Cup in 1998. Genoni is also an ambassador of the Lancia Ypsilon and this summer a special exhibition at Parc Oltremare is celebrating his achievements.

Lancia is also contributing financially to the work of two prestigious university laboratories that are using the park's lagoon this summer for research to further the understanding of marine life. The Italian carmaker is supporting the research of Professor Letizia Marsili, from the Centro Interuniversitario di Biologia Marina di Livorno (CIBM), and Professor Bruno Cozzi, from the Dipartimento di Scienze Sperimentali Veterinarie dell'Università di Padova.

Meanwhile fifty Musa ECOCHIC cars are once again in action during the third edition of Forte dei Marmi Vip – All Area Access which is taking place in the Tuscan town of Forte dei Marmi, zipping along the seafront and the 'in' bars and restaurants, at the service of tourists, to help to eliminate the traffic jams typical of the summer months and remove the “holiday stress” they can cause. This elegant car which reflects the image of Forte dei Marmi perfectly, can be hailed in the street, available free of charge to over two million tourists who visit the resort during the summer.

The Musa ECOCHIC fleet is at the disposal of anyone who wishes to move around inside the municipal territory, including the Limited Traffic Zone of Via Pascoli and Via Mascagni as well as the most popular nightspots. To optimise the courtesy service, several parking areas have been created, identified by signs stating Forte dei Marmi Vip – All Area Access, where the cars are parked, at the disposal of anyone wishing to use the service. And from there they set off towards all possible destinations. The car parks are thus a reference point for any passengers wishing to use the exclusive service. As well as the parking areas, there are several denoted stops at strategic points in the town centre, where people can hail a Musa ECOCHIC. At night, with the collaboration of the managers of the largest nightspots in Forte dei Marmi, the municipal authorities are using the Musa ECOCHIC fleet to take anyone who needs transportation home after a night at a disco, to guarantee safe entertainment.

Lancia are also using this summer's Riccione Vyp – No Stress Zone and Forte dei Marmi Vip – All Area Access initiatives to present a new version of the Ypsilon and Musa called the E-Collection which will be commercialised from October. Available in petrol, diesel and GPL formats, the E-Collection offers elegance thanks to its "total black" interior and low environmental impact thanks to a choice of efficient engines that boast lower consumption and reduced CO2. Standard equipment will include parking sensors and the new "Stop & Start" system that debuted on the Fiat 500, as well as smoked glass that will ensure maximum privacy for the occupants.
