Forty teams, coming from other Italian regions,
such as Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Latium and
Calabria as well as Sicily; have celebrated
Lancia's glorious sporting past with excursions
around some of the most beautiful locations in
Sicily and in the Madonie Regional Park; as well
as – last but not least – three days of
								sunshine.

					These have been
the heady “ingredients” of the first edition of  Sicily Lancia
Graffiti,  the inaugural gathering reserved for sport
and  racing cars, produced in over 50 years by the Turin
factory, which was founded on 29 November  1906 by Vincenzo
Lancia. The gathering took place from October 30 to November
1 in the province of Palermo, organised by Stratos DMC
					Palermo.

					Taking to the roads
that were once pounded by the famous Sicilian
races (where Lancia's racing cars have in their glorious
past won many important competitions, such as Rally di
Sicilia and Targa Florio), paraded  stunning examples
Stratos, including road and  “Group 4” versions (amongst
these was an ex-works car in Marlboro colours, that was
piloted by Sandro Munari and Jean Claude Andruet in the
Targa Florio in 1974, and now driven by Alessandro Carrara),
different versions of  Fulvia (included the “Group 4” driven
to the victory in the European Rally Championship in 1973 by
Sandro Munari, that today belongs to  Marco Tesi), as well a
couple of examples of the Delta Integrale 16V sponsored by
“Martini Racing”, one of the few of the very rare Barchetta
FM cars, a few Aurelia B20s, and one Delta S4 in its road
					version.

					Pace setter for
the gathering was – on Sunday 1st November – Ninni
Vaccarella (a three times winner of the Targa Florio) and
Giovanni Avanti, President of the Province of Palermo.
Vaccarella and Avanti, started from  “Floriopoli” (to the
backdrop of the stands and boxes of Cerda which have
recently been bought by the Province of Palermo), before
parading along the 72 kilometres of the “Piccolo Circuito
delle Madonie” (the last Targa Florio circuit) on board of a
Lancia Flaminia 2.8 limousine belonging to the Province of
Palermo, all to the applauses of the many fans that turned
out. Amongst the participants were also the descendants of
the Florio family, Costanza Afan de Rivera, on board of a
Lancia Aurelia B20 S driven with aplomb by Giuseppe Giaconia
					di Migaido.

					The headquarters
of Sicily Lancia Graffiti was the seaside city of
Cefalù, one of the most important Sicilian tourist
destinations, from where the participants started out on the
three excursions that were scheduled in the programme. On
Friday 30th October the cars reached Gibilmanna, on the
track of the hillclimb race “Cefalù-Gibilmanna” which in the
past was eligible for the European Championship, before
proceeding to Gratteri and Lascari. Saturday 31st October's
programme revolved around a tour of Madonie Park, through
Castelbuono, Isnello and Collesano, with a visit to the
local Targa Florio Museum included; while on Sunday 1st
November the tour took to the evocative former track of the
Targa Florio, with a run that closed the event and included
a visit of the Cerda Targa Florio Museum, lunch and the
prize giving ceremony at the “Madonie Golf Club”.
