Maserati has
announced that it has had second consecutive record
breaking year worldwide. Despite the tough economic
situation witnessed by all sectors of the world economy
and the profound situation of crisis that has pervaded
the automotive market from the beginning of the year,
Maserati has achieved its second record year in a row.
Deliveries to
customers have totalled almost 8,600 units last year, which
is an all-time best result for Maserati, with an increase of
almost 17 per cent over 2007. What is more, Maserati’s sales
were up in all markets across the world – including the
United States of America.
Despite the
troubled times experienced by the US economy, North America
(US and Canada) remains Maserati’s largest market
worldwide. The stability of Maserati’s market presence is
demonstrated by the consistent roll call of its largest
markets: Italy is in second place, the United Kingdom in
third, Germany in fourth, Japan in fifth. Five markets,
three continents for a truly global Maserati presence. In
sixth place is France, followed by Switzerland, China,
Australia, UAE, Hong Kong, with Australia seeing the largest
single year on year increase, with a rise of 50 per cent in
2008 over its 2007 performance.
In the first
nine months, Maserati’s revenues amounted to 596 million
euros, up 22.9 pct compared to the same period of the
previous year. There was a 25 pct increase in deliveries to
the network compared to the first nine months of 2007, and
this performance is even more significant considering that
the total car market in each of Maserati’s leading markets
shrank by an average of about 15 pct.
In the first
nine months of 2008, the result of normal activities for
Maserati was 31 million euros, with a 5.2 pct ratio to
income, which is a significant increase on the 6 million
euros (1.2 pct of revenues) achieved during the same period
last year.
