17.03.2009 NAVECO LAUNCHES FIRST MASS PRODUCTION ELECTRIC VEHICLE FLEET IN CHINA

NAVECO ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Nanjing IVECO Motor Company (Naveco), China's leading light commercial vehicle producer, launched a delivery ceremony in Nanjing for China's first batch of electric light commercial vehicles with 10 zero-emission and zero-pollution electric new energy light commercial vehicles debuting publicly.

This batch of vehicles will be officially put into operation as electrical power service vehicles for the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). Moreover, it is also the first time that China's domestic light commercial vehicle industry has realized mass production and commercial use of electric vehicles. This batch of electric vehicles is powered by renewable, zero-emission and zero-pollution electricity that is transformed from diesel fuel.

In addition to enormously environmentally-friendly advantages, the vehicles feature outstanding energy-saving performance, with electric consumption of around 40 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometres. This is equivalent to only 5 litres of oil consumption per 100 kilometres for an ordinary vehicle.

On a full charge, this kind of vehicle is able to run for 220 kilometres, and is applicable for sectors such as electricity, telecommunications, communications, publicity, and engineering. In addition, the power cell installed in the vehicle will provide electricity for various auxiliary and office equipment on the vehicle, to ensure flexibility and manoeuvrability as well as the professional capabilities of the vehicle.

Taking advantage of the central government's preferential policy on new energy vehicle development, Naveco has increased its input in various fields of investment, technology and human resources. After nearly a year of strenuous efforts, it has finally made a breakthrough in realizing the mass production capacity of pure electric light commercial vehicles on the Chinese mainland.

The vehicles delivered this time are China's first batch of mass-produced pure electric light commercial vehicles that will be officially put into operation. The SGCC will successively make a series of procurements of Iveco electric service vehicles to equip the power sector throughout China.

In addition, Naveco is developing Expo site special purpose pure electric vehicles according to the needs of the Shanghai Expo 2010, to realize the goal of "zero emissions in the Expo site, and low emissions in the surrounding areas."
