James L.
Ziemer, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson Inc., has
visited for the first time the MV Agusta and Cagiva
Headquarters in Schiranna, Varese, Italy.
Harley-Davidson, Inc. purchased the privately held Italian
motorcycle maker MV Agusta Group last August. The legendary
American motorbike manufacturer acquired 100 percent of MV
Agusta Group shares for 70 million euros which also included
absorbing its bank debt that stood at approximately 45
million euros.
Jim Ziemer
has dedicated his entire 40-year professional career to
Harley-Davidson and expressed the desire to personally meet
and welcome all MV Agusta Group employees to the
Harley-Davidson family.
During an address to all employees
on the production floor, Mr. Ziemer declared
“Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta and Cagiva have a great and
common tradition, a tradition of creating the world’s best
motorcycles in the segments where they compete; both
companies enjoy unrivalled customer passion for the products
and brands; both companies also have extremely talented and
passionate employees who want the best for the rider, and it
is this last point that matters most! There are many great
strengths already within MV Agusta, and now with the
experience and resources of Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta and
Cagiva can achieve even greater success in the market more
quickly.”
An intense
schedule for Jim Ziemer while in Italy took him not only to
the Varese based factory, but completely immersed him in the
MV Agusta and Cagiva world with a visit to CRC (Cagiva
Research Centre) in San Marino and then on to drop in on selected dealers.
Harley-Davidson Inc. is the parent company for the group
of companies doing business as Harley-Davidson Motor
Company (HDMC), Buell Motorcycle Company (Buell),
