Lancia are at the 79th Geneva Motor Show this week with
its full model range all boasting new features which are
led out by the new 200 bhp 1.8 DI TurboJet engine which
is showcased in a Delta finishing in a special flat
black colour and mounted on top of a large turntable.
Introduced yesterday during a press conference by brand
CEO Olivier François, as usual the stand is made up of
dark colours and seeks to be a stylish and fashionable
oasis in the halls of the Geneva Palexpo.
Lancia's
flagship saloon, the Delta takes centre stage on the brand's
plush stand once again, exactly a year after it was
extravagantly unveiled at last year's edition of the Swiss
show. Here two new versions are on show. The Delta Executive
is the new range-topper, with a more luxurious rear seat and
more legroom, it is aimed at businessmen and diplomats.
Meanwhile the second Delta on show is a showcar called the
Delta Hardblack and the body is finished in matt Lava Black
while the interior is trimmed out in
Alcantara Starlite, also in black.
Lancia is also
using Geneva to follow the trend of most car makers,
including Fiat's PUR-O2, and designate a sub-branding for
its most environmentally-conscious models. In the case of
Lancia the tag "Ecochic" has been chosen and the Musa, Ypsilon and Delta
are all on show in a world preview fitted with a new a dual-power
LPG and gasoline range. These 1.4 litre dual-fuel engines
produce 77 bhp and will be
available in the showrooms from March.
The Delta's
product placement in Angels and Demons, the follow-up
movie to The Da Vinci Code, is being celebrated with
special limited edition versions of the Ypsilon, Musa and
Delta, featuring a white body and black roof. These three
cars are on show, as is another limited edition model, the
Ypsilon Versus which has had its interior reworked by
fashion house Versace. Finally Fiat Group company Magneti
Marelli is celebrated with a display that showcases some of
the products from this division that Lancia uses such as
bi-xenon headlights, GPS systems and the Selectronic
robotised transmission.
