A modular
layout with raised centre island, the Fiat stand at the
79th Geneva International Motor Show next week,
which showcases the new 500 C, aims to picks up the
concept of out-of-scale technology gardens, that is nature
and technology, ecology and leisure as the basic
ingredients.
The route to discovery – through a changing
landscape characterized by giant columns, large moving
reflecting discs and animated pools – leads to the
suspended garden situated at the centre of the stand,
mirrored on the geometric rigor of traditional Italian
gardens appearing at the top of scenographic steps
highlighting a huge aviary. Also, a semi-transparent
volume area that is reserved for merchandising, a lounge and offices,
offers a privileged bird’s eye view of the entire stand
below.
So, in such
suggestive environment visitors discover a world full of
excitement, imagination and style enhanced by
environment-friendly technological innovation that comes
from the “made in
Italy” theme. By far the primadonna of the stand is the new Fiat
500C, the original cabriolet version presented at Geneva in
world preview. Also outstanding is Fiat Automobiles
commitment to safeguarding the environment and sustainable
mobility, which are important criteria in product
development, resulting in the creation of a web platform
accessible through the Fiat portal (www.fiat.it –
www.fiat.com), dedicated to tackling environmental issues
relating to the entire vehicle life cycle: from concept to
design, development right through to end-of-life.
The primary
strong signal of the Fiat commitment to the environment is
represented by the Fiat 500 which, right from launch meets
all Euro 5 requirements in all its engine versions. The best
proof of such continuing commitment in the quest for
products of minimum environmental impact is the Fiat 500
exhibited in Geneva with the logo PUR-O2, a symbol used for
a small batch of selected models (500, Croma and Bravo)
incorporating leading-edge technology and very small CO2
footprint, which place them at the forefront of the
international automobile world.
In particular,
the 500 Pur-O2 offers “Start&Stop” (developed by Engineering
& Design, Fiat Group Automobiles, in collaboration with Fiat
Powertrain Technologies and leading suppliers such as
Magneti Marelli and Bosch), whereas for Bravo and Croma the
Pur-O2 model features a special “eco pack”, including green
tires, low-viscosity oils, aerodynamic devices and
optimized-ratio transmissions. Representing the
environment-friendly range, exhibits in Geneva include a
Fiat 500 PUR-O2 equipped with a 1.2 liter gasoline engine
and Start&Stop. As from January last the Fiat 500 is type
approved to Euro 5 for all engine types, in line with the
latest European rulemaking.
Other Fiat 500s
are also on show as proof that this is not just simply a
segment-A super compact, but indeed a fully fledged platform
base used by Fiat to continuously expand an family of cars
offering technology and attention to detail above its
station. Hence, two specimens of made-in-Italy at its best,
the “Fiat 500 by Diesel” special series, plus a Sports
version with 1.4 litre 100 HP gasoline engine coupled to the
Dualogic robotised transmission with steering wheel mounted
paddles.
The Geneva Motor
Show is also the right occasion to appreciate the new
collection of “bespoke” Fiat 500s to personalize one’s own
car. Outstanding for attention to detail, this original
range experiments with unique shapes and appointments which
entice and appeal to the gentle sex. Butterflies, European
capitals, hinges are the subject of creativity anew in the
realm of stickers, and new solutions blend in with the
interior: polished objects like the blackboard panel on the
dash, but also items of everyday use by the ladies like the
makeup holder. The simple key fob illuminates and becomes
precious thanks to the optional CRYSTALLIZED Swarovski
Elements key cover. And for the “perfectionist” there are
even brand-new wheel rim covers with a colour enamelled Fiat
logo.
