The
penultimate day of testing today at the Circuit de
Catalunya near Barcelona as all the teams continue to
get ready for the start of the 2009 Formula 1 World
Championship, didn't start at all well for Scuderia
Ferrari. Felipe Massa, who took over testing duties from
Kimi Raikkonen for the final two days in Spain and now
sits behind the wheel of the new Ferrari F60, went out
on the circuit just after 9am, but he soon had to stop
by the side of the track due to a hydraulic problem.
The necessary
repair work took to the F60 over two hours and the Brazilian
finally got into the car at 12:10 for a race weekend
simulation: the first part, the three qualifying test
sessions, wasn't brought to a successful end, because there
wasn't enough time left in the session due to Buemi's Toro
Rosso becoming stranded on the Spanish track.
Massa then
started the race simulation programme and completed it
successfully in contrast to Raikkonen's attempt yesterday.
Massa eventually drove 109 laps today the best in a time of
1.20.168, which was the second fastest time of the day just
behind the surprisingly fast Brawn GP driven by Jenson
Button.
Tomorrow will see the final day of testing for the Scuderia
at this circuit, when Massa will again be on the track in
the F60. The Spanish test will be the Maranello team's last
track outing before the F1 season kicks off at Melbourne in
Australia in fifteen days time.
Today's testing times from Barcelona:
Button (Brawn GP), 1.19.127 (130)
