30.06.2009 DALLARA NAME SET TO RETURN TO F1 GRID NEXT YEAR

ANDREA DE CESARIS - DALLARA (1989)

This will not be Dallara's first experience of F1 having previously been involved some years ago from 1988-1992 as the constructor of the cars used by the BMS Scuderia Italia team.

CAMPOS GP2

The Campos Racing team was launched in 1998 by ex-Formula One driver Adrian Campos. Since that time it has competed in various championships from GP2 (above) to Euro F3.

Eighteen years after it's name last was seen on the F1 entry list Italy's leading race car constructor Dallara will be represented once again on the grid next year. As officially stated by the FIA when the entry list was published this month, one of the three new teams to be granted a place on the grid next year will be Campos Meta F1 and this Spanish outfit has contracted Dallara to design, develop and produce its new F1 car which will be known as the Campos-Dallara.

Dr Gian Paolo Dallara stated that: "A dedicated design team of 40 engineers, which will expand to become around 80 in the near future, has already been working on the project for the last two months here at our HQ in Varano de’ Melegari. They have been making excellent progress towards the initial goal of having the car in our state of the art wind tunnel facility by July." He went on to say: "This is great challenge for our company but one which I know we can meet."

This of course will not be Dallara's first experience in F1 having previously been involved some years ago from 1988-1992 as the constructor of the racing cars used by the less-than-successful BMS Scuderia Italia team, and has subsequently collaborated with Honda (1998) and Midland (2006) in a similar capacity as will be the case with Campos Meta F1.

Campos Meta F1, which was the first team to send to FIA a registration application for the 2010 Championship, has been set up by former grand prix driver Adrian Campos who will run the team alongside Jose Ramon Carabante, with its headquarters being located in Madrid and Valencia. As part of its application to compete in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, the Spanish team has agreed a technical partnerships with Dallara and Xtrac and an engine supply deal with Cosworth which will also be returning to F1 next year. The Campos Racing team was launched in 1998 by ex-Formula One driver Adrian Campos. Since that time it has competed in various championships from GP2 to Euro F3. It has won six driver championships, five team championships. Campos is the current GP2 team's title holder, on his second season in the single-seater series, and is also F3 Open teams' and drivers' champions. Previously Campos had run in the Nissan single seater series in the late 1990s.

Meanwhile with the budget cap now abolished, the principle that attracted the three new teams into F1, Dallara reported this week that the plans of Campos Meta to appear on the grid next year will be unaffected. "We are continuing as if nothing had happened," Dallara said during an interview with GP Week magazine. "Our car will be two wheel drive without the possibility to refuel and without KERS. We have worked on 2009 specification adding the extra fuel capacity required for 2010," he added.
