Ferrari's
private test track at Fiorano has hosted a special test
using a Ferrari 430 GT [GT2 class] sports car. The test,
organised in collaboration with series official tyre
supplier and sponsor Pirelli, was for the winners of the
second running of the 2008 Ferrari Challenge Pirelli
Trophy Youth Cup. The prize drive saw the winners to the
Cup getting behind the wheel of one of the most
successful Prancing Horse cars in history in Grand
Touring racing.
Taking turns at the wheel of the car provided by BMS
Scuderia Italia, were Marco Mapelli, fifth in the
Italian one-make series and Bjorn Grossman (Autohaus
Gohm) the German driver who was born in 1984 and who
finished second by a hairsbreadth in the European
series.
While this was not a new experience for Grossman, who
had already taken part in the prize drive last year, it
was an unforgettable event for the twenty one year old
Team Rossocorsa driver: driving on a track where
Ferrari's Formula 1 cars are born in a car that finished
second in the Le Mans 24 Hours and the FIA GT
championship.
Both drivers will be back on track for the first round
of the Italian and European series of the Ferrari
Challenge Pirelli Trophy, on the final weekend of March,
at the Monza National Circuit.
