Cool Victory team has announced that
it will take delivery of one of the new GT4 class Maserati
GranTurismo MC racers this autumn and will debut the
brand-new Trident car in the Dubai 24 Hours, thus becoming
the first team to officially confirm an order for Modena's
latest product.
According to a statement issued by
Cool Victory: "Team Captain Olivier Doeblin announced today
that the endurance race team of Cool Victory has completed
an agreement to take delivery of the newly developed
GranTurismo MC for the 2010 season. Unveiled only this past
April, Maserati is producing a limited run of just fifteen
of the racecars, homologated for the European Cup and
National Endurance Series."
Demonstrating its instant promise, the
GranTurismo MC made its race track debut during the GT4
European Cup rounds that accompanied the sixty-first running
of the 24 Hours of Spa last month, kicking off its
competitive life with a very impressive second place finish.
Cool Victory expects to take delivery of its new car in
September, and then will immediately begin setups for its
engagement at the 24 Hours of Dubai.
"We see this as a nice addition to our
development program for the long run to the 24 Heures du
Mans," said Team Manager Ric Lee in the statement. "This
will give us the opportunity to develop our relationship
with the people at Maserati and put us on a track to work
with a marque that has a long and successful racing
history."
Cool Victory is something of an
unknown although it claims that it has international
experience racing Lamborghinis. Only a road-going Gallardo
features on its official website, and the content betrays a
lack of motor racing knowledge. Cool Victory appears to be
set to try the route of persuading fans through a 'global
membership' scheme to have their names feature on its cars
in exchange for a nominal sum. “It seems the world is full
of limitations and exclusive programs only meant for the
very few,” explained Lee recently. “As a racing team, we
know that we’re involved in a sport not intimately
accessible to many fans and participants. Let’s face it.
Lamborghinis don’t come cheap. We’ve designed an opportunity
for those who want to be a verifiable piece of history, who
want to know the insider action of this high-speed
lifestyle.”
The development of Maserati
GranTurismo MC is another step forward for the
Trident-logoed Modenese manufacturer that was originally
founded in 1914 to tune and subsequently build racecars.
Maserati's victories include the Indianapolis 500 in 1939
and 1940, and F1 World titles in 1954, 1957 and 1967. In
2004, the factory launched the MC12 racecar that provided
Maserati victories at Spa 24 Hours in 2005, 2006 and again
in 2008. The Cool Victory team says it is looking forward to
the coming race calendar and working with Maserati Corse.
