It was a
good weekend for the Ferrari F430 GT thanks to the
excellent results at the two important championships:
the American Le Mans Series and the International GT
Open – while the 430 Challenge was in action during the second round of
the North American Ferrari Racing Days.
After the first two
races held in Florida the American Le
Mans Series moved to the West Coast of
the US for the third round of the 2009 Championship,
held on the street circuit of Long
Beach. On the streets of the famous
Californian harbour town the F430
GT started by the Risi Competizione team
gained second place after a start from
the back of the starting grid: thanks to
an excellent comeback by Pierre Kaffer
during the first half of the race and a
perfect conclusion by Jaime Melo –
driving the fastest race lap – the Team
Houston Ferrari gained the second spot
on the podium, behind the Porsche with Jörg Bergmeister and Patrick Long and
ahead of the BMW with Dirk Müller and
Tommy Milner. The next race of this
prestigious series will be held at the
Salt Lake City circuit on 17th May.
Both opening races of
the 2009 season for the International GT
Open - held on the renewed Enzo e Dino
Ferrari circuit at Imola - were
dominated by the F430 GTs. At the end of
race one victory went to the entry from
Advanced Engineering driven by Michele Rugolo - Giacomo Ricci, ahead of the
Porsche 997 with Raymond Narac-Patrick
Pilet and Richard Lietz - Gianluca Roda.
Marcel Fässler and Joël Camathias
(Scuderia Trottet Racing) won race two
ahead of the three-times GTS champions
Marco Cioci and Piergiuseppe Perazzini (Megadrive),
while the Porsche with Richard Lietz -
Gianluca Roda came in third again. The next International
GT Open race will be held at the Algarve
international circuit in Portugal on
17th May.
The second Ferrari
Challenge event in the US - held at the
Road Atlanta circuit - was dominated in
both races by Scott Tucker (Boardwalk
Ferrari). On the event’s occasion the
track in Georgia hosted the F1 Clienti
department from Maranello with four free
practice sessions for the three single-seaters
brought to the track. Meanwhile five
cars participating in the prestigious
FXX Programme went out on the track,
with Clients and technicians analysing
the telemetry data at the end of every
single session. The third US Ferrari
Racing Days will be held on the weekend
of 3rd May on the Infineon race track in
California, while the extraordinary cars
from the F1 Clienti and FXX department
in Maranello will get back on the track
in Japan, at the Fuji circuit, on the
following weekend.
