When Ferrari
Chairman Luca di Montezemolo inaugurated the academic
year in Florence at the Military Science Institute he
invited the students of the 75th Air Force Master Course
by saying: “I can tell you what Ferrari is, but you have
to come and see by yourself.” And this is what happened.
Yesterday more
than 70 students came to visit Maranello. The delegation,
lead by Head of General Staff of the General Air Force SA
Daniele Tei, General SA Giampiero Gargini, Commanding
Officer of the Air Force Institutes, and General Claudio
Salerno, Commanding Officer of the Scientific Air Force
Institute.
The visit
started at the Fiorano race track, where Andrea Stella,
Fernando Alonso’s race engineer, explained the work of a
Formula 1 team to the guests, who then moved on to the
Company’s industrial departments, where they could see the
Formula Uno’s working methods and philosophy applied,
guiding the production at Ferrari.
During the
meeting with the students Ferrari Chairman Luca di
Montezemolo underlined the many similarities linking Ferrari
with the army and especially with the Air Force. “Not only
from a point of view regarding engineering, engine and
aerodynamics these are similar operations, but the passion
we have for what we’re doing and the love for our country
are the things, which make us proud.” Montezemolo wanted to
thank the army officials for their work, always holding the
name of Italy in high esteem.
The Head of the
General Staff General Tei agreed, thanking Montezemolo for
the exceptional day, confirming the affinity between Ferrari
and the Air Force regarding teamwork and research for
excellence in every single detail. The visit was concluded
at the Galleria Ferrari for a ‘full immersion’ into the
historical and more recent cars from the history of the
Prancing Horse.
