						The first
Australian-specification Ferrari 458 Italia has arrived
in Australia, with the 325 km/h super car making its
debut in Brisbane this week after being flown direct
						from Italy to Australia.

						“Australian
deliveries have started a little earlier than planned
because the interest in this remarkable car has been so
great that the car has been air freighted to Australia,”
explains Kevin Wall, General Manager for Ferrari in
Australia and New Zealand. “Even before it was announced
we have had Australian clients expressing interest in
the 458 Italia and, once its specification was
announced, revealing it to be, even by Ferrari
standards, a technical tour de force, interest has
climbed dramatically and shows no sign of slowing.”

						The Ferrari
458 Italia uses a remarkable amount of Formula One
technology in every aspect of its design. This enables
it to be the fastest production Ferrari the company has
produced and, to place this position in perspective, the
launch version of the 458 Italia is faster in all areas
than the ultimate, race track orientated, version of the
car it replaces. “Ferrari’s definition of ‘the fastest’
is not measured in the crude terms of top speed or its
ability to reach 100 km/h in the lowest possible time,”
explains Mr Wall. “These measurements do not take into
account a car’s ability to go around corners and to cope
with difficult driving conditions. This is why Ferrari
measure ‘the fastest’ in terms of the quickest lap time
around its notoriously difficult Fiorano test track,
which is, essentially, made up of all most difficult
corners in Formula One. If a car is the fastest here,
then it is, truly, the fastest in the real world.”
						The Ferrari
458 Italia represents a genuine evolution of Maranello’s
mid-rear engined V8 sports cars. As with every new
Ferrari the 458 Italia is a concentration of innovation
thanks, in no small part, to the company’s racing
expertise. Employing exactly the same techniques and
methods used to develop the Scuderia’s F1 cars,
Ferrari’s engineers concentrated their efforts on
obtaining the maximum in terms of efficiency in every
aspect of the car, and their commitment was repaid with
levels of fuel consumption and C02 emissions that set
the benchmark in this market segment – 13.3 l/100 km and
307 g/km respectively in the combined cycle (ECE+EUDC).
The 458 Italia has made its
Australian debut in Queensland after being flown direct
to Brisbane for display at Euromarque Ferrari – a clear
indication of Queensland’s importance to the sports car
maker and the fact that there is already a queue of
customers in the state for the car. “As would be
expected from the company that has dominated Formula One
for 60 years and has just contested its eight hundredth
grand prix, the Ferrari 458 Italia boasts a technical
tour de force of features that have been developed in
the white hot heat of the top motorsport arena and these
are represented in every area of the car,” says Greg
Willims, the Managing Director of Euromarque Ferrari.
“It is also a window to the future for technology that
will make all cars safer, cleaner and more economical
over the coming decade. And, of course, as it is a
Ferrari, it is stunningly beautiful from every angle.”
“To be the dealership to be
given the privilege of being the first to display this
remarkable car, is a unique honour and it is clear sign
of the strength of demand for Ferrari’s super cars in
Queensland and the quality of customer service that we
offer in at Euromarque,” continues Mr Willims. “Four new
multi-million dollar Ferrari dealerships have opened
across Australia in the past few years and for us to be
chosen for the first public display of the Australian
specification 458 Italia clearly indicates our position
amongst their superb, world class facilities!”
