Mexican driver
and Ferrarista Nicolas Zapata was the
victim of a traffic accident on Saturday 9
October on the Mexico-Toluca highway in the
region of Santa Fe. With the loss of Zapata,
the new Ferrari Historic Race loses its most
fervent supporter, a racer for over ten
years in the series dedicated to the classic
jewels from the home of the Prancing Horse.
In November 2009 Zapata was crowned champion
at the fourth and final race at the world
finals in Valencia, behind the wheel of a
legendary 1956 Ferrari 625 TR. |

The Ferrari 458 Italia
has been awarded the title of Best Exotic Car by
the Middle East Motor Awards 2010, the most
respected awards ceremony of its kind at present in the
Gulf region, the event taking place at the International
Automobile Show (IAS) in the UAE on October 14.
Judged by a panel of 12 respected independent motoring
journalists from seven countries across the Middle
East Motor Awards 2010 (MEMA) region, the 458 Italia
beat five other prestigious cars to take the award which
was presented by the President of the Automobile and
Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE)
and Vice President for Sport on the FIA World Motor
Sport Council, Mr Mohammed Bin Sulayem.
MEMA is an initiative of
Expo Centre Sharjah with support of the Sharjah Chamber
of Commerce and Industry to acknowledge leading players
of the automotive industry and to celebrate emerging
technologies.
This latest recognition further underlines the
international critical acclaim that the 458 Italia has
received since its launch last September at the 2009
Frankfurt Motor Show.
