Fiat
Automóveis has launched model year updates to the Doblò
and Siena to improve their Brazilian market appeal with
the key change being that Fiat Powertrain’s (FPT) new
1.8 16v E.torQ engine goes under the bonnet of the
former just a week after it premièred on the Punto MY.
The E.torQ unit, which is based on the former
Chrysler-BMW joint venture Tritec engine of which FPT
bought the factory located in the south of Brazil as
well as the intellectual rights two years ago, will be
available right across the Doblo MY2011’s range: HLX,
Adventure and Cargo, replacing existing units to
complement the LCV's 1.4 litre entry level FIRE engine.
In the Doblò application
the E.torQ 1.8 16V engine comes with power output 132 hp
at 5,250 rpm and torque of 18.9 kgfm at 4,500 rpm when
using pure ethanol (or 130 hp with 18.4 kgfm when the
engine is running on pure gasoline). These are the same
power and torque figures as delivered by the new Punto
MY when fitted with the new engine. The incorporation of
E.torQ is expected to enhance the Brazilian showroom
demand of the Doblò which is based on the
last-generation European Doblò which was introduced in
Europe a decade ago (and built in Turkey) and replaced
with an all-new version at the turn of the year. E.torQ
brings with it an engine format that has been
redeveloped by FPT and results in lower internal energy
consumption thanks to the reduced weight of its moving
parts, improved fuel economy, a reduction in the level
of noise and vibrations and low emission of pollutants.
The Doblò MY2011 range
kicks off with a 1.4 FIRE entry-level model priced at R$
51.990 which leads into the Doblò ELX, also fitted with
the 1.4 engine, at R$ 55,900. Then comes the Doblò HLX
fitted with the new 1.8 16V E.torQ unit, it will sell
for R$ 58,160, while the muscular, off-road-styled Doblò
Adventure also comes exclusively with the E.torQ engine
and costs R$ 64,550. Finally the two Doblò Cargo
versions offer both power units, starting with the 1.4
(R$ 40,700) and the E.torQ 1.8 16V (R$ 45,590).
Alongside the launch onto the Brazilian market of the
Doblò MY2011 today also comes some mild updates to yet
another ageing model in Fiat Automóveis' expansive
product line-up, the Siena, the sedan member of the
long-running “Project World Car” family. The main
changes to the Siena MY2011 are in the cosmetic
detailing, with the car immediately identifiable by the
revised colour coded front grille and from the new 13-
and 14-inch wheeltrims, while inside the cabin of the
4-door car there are new materials for the seats and
door panels. Into the range for the "Model Year" come
two new specification versions of the Siena, the
Attractive 1.0 and
Attractive 1.4, which aim to enhance its elegance and
comfort. There are new interior trims and the
instruments cover gets a new colour gray. New hub caps
are added as well while the new optional 14-inch alloy
wheels have a "diamond" surface treatment.
The
Fiat Siena in 2011 also gained two new versions: 1.0 and
Attractive Attractive 1.4. They bring as novelty items
that enhance the elegance and comfort. The intern comes
in with new tissue and the central part of the framework
instrument now gets a new color, gray Ghis. Externally,
the versions Attractive bring new caps in addition to
the optional alloy wheels 14 "with surface treatment"
diamond. The three new versions of the Siena are priced
as follows: Siena Fire 1.0 (R $ 29,740), Siena 1.0
Attractive (R $ 36,410) and Siena 1.4 Attractive (R $
39,630).
