automobile press in Brazil. It came out the big winner
of the 12th Automotive Press Awards, organized by
Abiauto (Brazilian Automotive Press Association)
and also won in two categories of the Top Car TV
Awards, dished out by journalists specialising in
the automotive sector dedicated to television media.
In addition to being

the panel of judges made up of 73 journalists
specialised in automobiles, representing newspapers,
magazines and radio and TV stations throughout Brazil.
The results were determined
and audited by PWC and was announced during a ceremony at
which the Brazilian Minister of Development, Industry & Foreign
Trade, Miguel Jorge, was present, together with all the
main leaders of the national automotive industry and 270 guests.
In the Top Car TV Award, the new Uno won in the
Best Car up to 1,000cc and Best Car from 1,000
to 1,599cc categories.
The new model from Fiat, only launched into the
Brazilian showrooms in May of this year,
confirmed with these awards its success with both
critics and the public. Bold in its concept and lines,
Fiat Automóveis is hopeful with the Uno of redefining the compact automobile
segment in Brazil and to write another success story of
the brand in the Latin American nation. With its strong
and vibrant range of body colours, the new 5-door
hatchback is busily invading Brazilian
streets and making them all the more livelier. Fiat’s strong
sales results
on the Brazilian market are being boosted by demand for the
new Uno, which has sold more than 60,000 units
since its launch, in addition to also having about
25,000 confirmed orders.
The new model debuted
two new engines, the Fire 1.0 Evo and the Fire 1.4 Evo,
both flex (ethanol and gasoline), which incorporate
technologies to guarantee fuel savings and low levels of
emissions. The Uno has also arrived in the showrooms very well equipped for
a car of its category in Brazil with practical items
like the more than eleven object holders throughout the car, safety
items such as airbags and ABS, and comfort items
including air-conditioning and CD/MP3 radio with
Bluetooth, handsfree and USB connection. The Uno has
also brought with it unprecedented content for its
segment including a thermal windshield which has
defogging function.
With the concept of
the new Uno of being unique, the customer also has the
possibility of personalising their car at the factory as
well as with accessories available through Fiat's
Brazilian dealer network. For this strategy there are countless
possible combinations to choose from and for the vehicle to become
practically an extension of its owner’s personality.
