The Fiat 500 has just
served as inspiration for artists that participated in
Exhibitalia, a four day live exhibition that
featured a wide selection of Italian art, design,
fashion and culture which took place at the Art Basel in
Miami.Renowned
artists, as well as two student art teams from the
University of Miami, used the Car of the Year 2008
award winning Fiat 500 as both inspiration and canvas
while Christian Balzano took his design inspiration to
the entire body of the Fiat 500, the actual car he used
though being the European-specification version.
ExhibItalia,
the Italian Pavilion on the occasion of Art Basel Miami,
showcased more than 40 artists and 200 artworks in its
15,000 sqft of outdoor and indoor spaces. The show was
curated by Maurizio Vanni, director of the Lu.C.C.A.

of the universities in Miami, supervised by the talented
and renowned Balzano. Also featured was photography of
the Fiat 500, Ducati Tours in 1189 Superbike, works by
Italian and International contemporary artists, Sandro
Cabrini’s latest works and Ken Scott's silk and ceramic

Art Basel Miami Beach
is the most important art show in the United States, a
cultural and social highlight for the Americas. As the
sister event of Switzerland's Art Basel, the most
prestigious art show worldwide for the past 41 years,
Art Basel Miami Beach combines an international
selection of top galleries with an exciting program of
special exhibitions, parties and crossover events
featuring music, film, architecture and design.
Exhibition sites are located in the city's beautiful Art
Deco District, within walking distance of the beach and
many hotels.
An exclusive selection of more than 250 leading art
galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe,
Asia and Africa exhibited 20th and 21st century artworks
from over 2,000 artists at this year's edition which ran
for the first four days of this month. The exhibiting
galleries were among the world's most respected art
dealers, offering exceptional pieces by both renowned
artists and cutting-edge newcomers. Special exhibition
sections featured young galleries, performance art,
public art projects and video art. The show was - as
ever - a vital source for art lovers, allowing them to
both discover new developments in contemporary art and
experience rare museum-calibre artworks. Top-quality
exhibitions in the museums of South Florida and special
programs for art collectors and curators also helped
make the event a special time for encountering art. And
every year, a greater number of art collectors, artists,
dealers, curators, critics and art enthusiasts from
around the world participate in Art Basel Miami Beach -
the favorite winter meeting place for the international
art world.
