Fiat
Automóveis has ended the first quarter of the year with
record sales in the Brazilian market, and was once again
the number one consumer preference. Cumulatively through
the first three months of the year Fiat Automóveis has
seen 167,528 cars and light commercial vehicles sold in
the country which adds up to a growth rate of 9.6
percent over the same period last year.
Fiat's Brazilian market share for the quarter was 22.3
percent, with an advantage of over 11,000 vehicles ahead
of the next carmaker in the sales rankings. The data
comes from
the Registro Nacional
de Veículos Automotores (National
Registry of Motor Vehicles) which was released by the
Associação Nacional
dos Fabricantes de Veículos Automotores (National
Association of Vehicle Manufacturers).
In March, Fiat sold 73,615 vehicles (cars and LCVs)
which also made it the best selling carmaker for the
month. Month-on-month growth more than doubled compared
to the previous month, February (+51.2 percent), and was
up 14.2 percent year-on-year over March. The sales
performance in March now becomes a new monthly record
for Fiat.
In the rankings for the first quarter of this year, Fiat
has three models amongst the five best-selling cars: the
Palio hatchback, with 39,634 units sold, the venerable
Uno, which recorded 36,379 sales, and the Palio's sister

registrations. Amongst light commercial vehicles, the
Strada pickup remains the comfortable segment leader
with 24,249 vehicles having been sold during the first
three months, more than double the second best selling
LCV model, while the Ducato is the leader among large
vans, with 1,991 units registered.
