A delivery ceremony has
taken place at the SIH factory in Chongqing marking the
delivery of a fleet of Genlyon heavy duty trucks
produced in China by the joint-venture SAIC Iveco
Hongyan, to Openasia Heavy Equipment, Iveco’s dealer in
Vietnam.
It is the first time that SAIC-Iveco Hongyan has
exported their products through the Iveco global
distribution network, which is in line with Iveco’s
strategy of exporting products manufactured by its
Chinese JVs to international markets.
The commercial vehicles supplied to Vietnam covers an
extended range of 20 Genlyon units comprising tractors,
tipper trucks and concrete mixers in various
configurations. All the vehicles are equipped with the
Cursor 9 engine in-line 6 cylinder common rail engine
rated from 340 to 380 cv. The engine is locally produced
by the Iveco SAIC-Fiat Powertrain Hongyan joint venture
company.
Launched in March 2009, in the National Olympic Stadium
in Beijing, the Genlyon was awarded 2009 Truck of the
Year in China. It has profited from Iveco’s European
quality and technological excellence, allowing a
strategic entry of Genlyon in the heavy duty vehicle
segment in the Chinese market. The vehicle is an
outstanding full-range product based on the Iveco
Stralis platform, aiming to offer customers a very
reliable top of the range commercial vehicle with
excellent performance and class leading fuel economy.
Departing from Chongqing, the vehicles will arrive in
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City later this month. Prompt
after-sales service and spare parts availability will be
guaranteed by the state-of-the-art facilities of the
Iveco dealer in Vietnam.
