The Fiat
Doblò Natural Power will be making its world debut at
the Geneva Motor Show next week, confirming the
undisputed worldwide leadership of Fiat in the field of
original equipment (OEM) dual-fuel petrol/methane
systems.
Ideal for mixed use, this version is the perfect balance
between performance and consumption: it is agile in
traffic but at the same time brilliant on long hauls,
for cutting running costs in all cases. All this with
the additional bonus of having very low environment
impact allowing use in cities where traffic blocks or
restrictions are in force.
The new Doblò Natural Power fits a 1.4 16v T-JET Euro 5
(petrol and methane) engine made by Fiat Powertrain
Technologies specifically designed for top-notch
integration of the two independent petrol and methane
systems. The engine is configured to normally work on
natural gas. It is always started on petrol and
immediately and automatically switched to methane. In
this way, the petrol fuel system remains efficient and
is only required for starting and when the gas in the
cylinders is about to run out. The driver can switch to
petrol at any time by pressing a button on the
dashboard.
Belonging to the new T-JET supercharged petrol engine
family, the 1.4 16v of the new Doblò Natural Power
features top performance, prompt acceleration, low fuel
consumption, simple build, rugged design and
reliability. With a supercharger and intercooler and a
Wastegate valve, the new engine delivers a maximum power
of 120 HP (on petrol and methane) and gradual torque
(206 Nm at 2000 rpm). High flexibility with little use
of the 6-speed gearbox for pleasantly laid-back motoring
but simply pressing the accelerator will unleash an
energetic response assisted by the low inertia of the
turbocharger. The new eco-friendly Doblò Natural Power
consolidates its leading position with a CO2 emission
level equivalent to 134 g/km on the combined cycle.
Positioned under the floor to maintain the usable boot
volume (from 790 litres to 3200 litres), the four
methane cylinders have a total capacity of 95 litres,
equal to 16.2 kg. This means a range of 325 km (which
becomes 625 km by adding the kilometres which can be
covered using the 22 litre petrol engine).
The new Natural Power version is the latest addition to
the Fiat “family space” portfolio. It counts on major
standard safety contents (from ESP to side bags for
protecting the occupants' head and chest),
cost-effective running and top-in-class eco-friendliness
(DPF is standard on all diesel versions and the
Start&Stop system is standard on all petrol and diesel
engine versions). Furthermore, it is best-in-class in
terms of roominess and low polluting emissions thanks to
the use of a new platform. It has more room for
passengers (a 2755 mm wheelbase makes it the longest in
its segment), a boot capacity of 790 litres
(best-in-class, which becomes 3200 litres with the seats
folded), low CO2 emissions (129 g/km with the 1.3
Multijet II 90 HP engine, the lowest in its category),
innovative Bi-link suspensions for additional comfort,
and the highly flexible interiors offering up to seven
seats on petrol and diesel versions. All these features
are sure to satisfy needs and make the Doblò a car to
enjoy with family and friends.
