In Geneva next week a Lancia Musa show car will debut which recalls high-end gem jewellery inside the vehicle through refined and luxurious upholstery materials and paint finishes, with brightened finishes on the trim, mouldings and on the dashboard to recall the depth and fullness of the light from pure silver.

The new show car is also a tribute to the recent TV commercial dedicated to the model, starring Audrey Hepburn, the actress who has become an icon of class and beauty in the collective imagination.

Under the banner of the claim “Lancia Musa. The City Limousine. Elegance is the only beauty that never fades", the association of the Lancia Musa with the immortal image of Audrey Hepburn on the one hand emphasises the concept of elegance as an aesthetic value that transcends time and fashion while also confirming the strong bond that has always joined Lancia models to the world of cinema.

The exterior of the show car is distinguished by the triple coat black body, which matches the trim of the roof and the door in matt black leather, with stitching, and by the mouldings and logo on the pillar and on the door in brightened aluminium.

The interior of the new car embodies sophistication and elegance, demonstrated by the fine upholstery in two-tone leather on the dashboard: on top it is light blue with ton sur ton stitching; in the middle of the dashboard and at the top of the door handles the trim is in matt black leather with contrasting stitching. The roof, pillars and carpet are in black Alcantara while the seats are upholstered in light blue leather and Alcantara. The storage compartments are lined inside with Alcantara, with a particular cushion effect with the same softness as the padded slots inside jewellery boxes.

The refined interior compartment is completed by leather steering wheel with ton sur ton stitching with shiny black thread and trim and dashboard in brightened aluminium. Carpet covers with a iridescent effect in cold grey by G.T. Design add to the decor of the interior compartment.

Debuting on the show car, the new 1.3 Multijet II 95 HP engine (Euro5), with standard Start&Stop system, delivers a maximum output of 95 HP at 4,000 rpm and a torque of 200 Nm (20.4 kgm) at only 1,500 rpm. Developed and produced by FPT - Fiat Powertrain Technologies, this engine belongs to the second generation of Multijet power units and has new common rail injectors which, courtesy of a balanced hydraulic servo valve, control the amount of diesel injected into the combustion chamber with a high degree of precision, making the injection sequence much faster and more flexible than previously (up to 8 injections in the same cycle). This allows better control of the diesel combustion with benefits for fuel consumption, emissions, noise levels and driveability.

The new 95 HP engine on the Lancia Musa is equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger that ensures optimum turbocharging throughout the entire operating range. Fuel consumption has been reduced by up to 8% in the urban cycle thanks also to the Start&Stop system that switches the engine off temporarily and then restarts it. What's more, the combination of the second generation 1.3 engine and the Start&Stop device lets the Lancia Musa achieve exhaust emissions of just 114 g/km (109 g/km with robotised gearbox) of CO2. With Euro 5 type-approval, the new 1.3 litre engine enhances its environmentally-friendly pedigree further through the particulate filter (DPF) integrated in the engine compartment which improves its efficiency even more, especially in the first few moments after cold starting.
