Following a
highly impressive debut for its new F10 in Valencia last
week Scuderia Ferrari is now preparing for this season’s
second official F1 sessions which will take place from
10 to 13 February at the Spanish Jerez de la Frontera
circuit.
This morning the
main part of the Italian team left from Maranello, including
the mechanics and the staff working in the logistics,
telemetry and electronics departments, while the engineers
will arrive in Spain on Tuesday evening.
There will be
four days of testing for the F1 teams this week and for the
Scuderia new Spanish signing Fernando Alonso, who attracted
more than 30,000 spectators for his Ferrari debut runs at
Valencia last week, will kick off the development work on
the track for the first two days, to be followed by his
Brazilian team mate Felipe Massa, who will sit behind the
wheel of the new F10 as of Friday February 12, before
continuing into Saturday.
The F10 single-seater
has already arrived at the Jerez circuit after the revisions
for the second test were carried out last Wednesday night in
Valencia. The car’s configuration, say Ferrari, will
substantially remain the same compared to its debut and
there will be only some mechanical updates. The same F1
teams in action in Valencia last week will be on track at
Jerez this week, including Mercedes GP, McLaren, BMW Sauber
and Williams, while 2009 championship runners-up, Red Bull,
and new grand prix hopefuls, Virgin, are both set to
shakedown their new contenders.
Meanwhile back
in Maranello the work on the assembly of the second new F10
chassis goes on briskly. This single-seater will be used for
the first time during the third official F1 test session
which will be held once again in Jerez, from 17 to 20
February.
