After being shown for the first time at the Paris Motor Show and launched in
Italy in mid-November, the fleet market-targeted Alfa Romeo Giulietta fitted
with the 140 CV 2.0 JTDM-2 is now being rolled out across Europe.
The Giulietta 2.0 JTDM-2 is being pitched up against Volkswagen’s Golf 2.0 TDI
140, although with the German car offering a DSG transmission option, interest
in the new Alfa Romeo from fleet buyers is likely to be cool until Fiat Powertrain’s
‘TCT’ dual clutch (which features a full automatic mode) arrives later this
year.
In Italy the new 140 CV turbodiesel Giulietta is
available in ‘Progression’ specification priced at 24,000 euros, and in the
higher ‘Distinctive’ trim at 25,700 euros, while an introductory launch offer
that saw the two levels priced at 22,300 and 24,000 euros respectively has just
come to an end. That leaves the Giulietta Distinctive priced around 700 euros
higher than the equivalent manual Golf Highline model.

						The 140 HP 2.0 JTDM-2
is equipped with the latest generation of the MultiJet
Common Rail system that is already present on the 105 HP
1.6 and the 170 HP 2.0 power units. This system
represents the most technologically advanced solution
for controlling high injection pressures (around 1600
bar) independently of the engine rotation speed and
quantity of fuel injected. The engine management,
capable of introducing small quantities of fuel with the
main injection (the amount of fuel injected to provide
the performance requested by the driver) guarantees
particularly smooth engine operation in all situations.
This technology, combined with an electronically
						controlled variable geometry turbocharger, guarantees
excellent torque delivery: 350 Nm at just 1750 rpm (with
the D.N.A. selector in Dynamic position) and 320 Nm at
						1500 rpm (in Normal).

This new Giulietta version records reduced CO2 emissions
						and fuel consumption (119 g/km and 4.5 litres/100 km
respectively in the combined cycle), a top speed of 205
						km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds.
The engine is designed for all customers who seek good
throttle response but are also careful about fuel
						consumption and running costs.

On the theme of environmental respect, the engine is
Euro 5 compliant and is equipped with DPF and Start&Stop
as standard. Moreover, advanced exhaust gas treatment
technologies have been used, namely a Close Coupled
Diesel Particulate Filter and a built-in EGR (Exhaust
Gas Recirculation) system that improves control of
temperature and gas flow, simultaneously guaranteeing
lower emissions and reduced fuel consumption. The 2.0
JTDM also boasts a particularly long servicing interval,
35,000 km, thus minimising work required on the vehicle
						during its life cycle.

						Alfa Romeo also used
the launch of the Giulietta 2.0 JTDM-2 140 CV to roll
out a new optional equipment package across the
Giulietta range. The "Style Pack", only available on the
"Distinctive" version, includes 17-inch "turbine" design
alloy wheels with 225/45 sport tyres, satin finish
covers of the door mirrors, new headlamp finish, dark
side skirts, new dark highlights inside and dash inserts
in brushed aluminium. The Style Pack is priced at 1,000
						euros in Italy.
