A rare
1956 Ferrari 500 Testa Rossa will be the star at the
first auction of the 2012 season when it comes under the
hammer at the Scottsdale Auctions organised by Gooding &
Company in Scottsdale, Arizona on 20 and 21 January.

						Preceding the legendary
250 GT Testa Rossa, the 500 was the first Ferrari to use
the Testa Rossa name. The 1956 Ferrari 500 Testa Rossa
being presented is one of just 17 examples produced and
one of the most extensively campaigned four-cylinder
cars to race in the United States.
						American motorsport
legends John von Neumann, Bruce Kessler and Pete Lovely
all raced this 1956 Ferrari 500 Testa Rossa in its early
years at many of the country’s greatest racetracks,
including Pomona, Lime Rock, Riverside, Paramount, Palm
						Springs and Laguna Seca.
						An impressively
original and honest race car, this Ferrari is an
excellent candidate for enthusiasts wishing to
participate in the best vintage rallies and racing
events. The car’s auction estimate is us$2,100,000 -
						US$2,600,000.
						This Ferrari is not
the only Prancing Horse at Scottsdale, with it being
joined by a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 expected to achieve
						US$1,300,000 - U$1,600,000; a 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast
						expected to achieve US$950,000 - US$1,250,000 and a 1973
Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona expected to achieve US$370,000
						- US$420,000.
