Fiat Automóveis has
introduced a special series of the Idea minivan onto the
Brazilian market this month, the Idea Itália, to
celebrate the cultural, social and trade ties between
the largest Latin American nation and Italy.
At the same time the
Brazilian market Idea's range is being boosted by the
availability of the HSD (High Safety Drive) kit to the
"Essence" and "Sporting" versions. HSD adds the option
of airbags and ABS to the B-segment model which is built
at Fiat Automóveis' Betim plant.
The special series Fiat Idea
Itália,
celebrating the
Momento da Itália no
Brasil, will be
limited to 580 units and is given specific badging and a more distinctive look
through the incorporation of a series of cosmetic add-ons
drawn from the outfits of its sister models, leveraging the
range with the "Italia" model slotting in above the
"Essence" and "Attractive" specification levels and
below the "Sporting" and "Adventure".
The new looks of the
Idea Itália
are set off by exclusive 16-inch alloy
wheels (taken from the Idea
Itália's European sister model,
the Lancia Musa, as well as the similarly-Punto based
Ypsilon, but with Fiat hub cap badges fitted), headlights
and tail lights that come with the black headlight inner
frames off the Idea Sporting version while the chrome
trim inserts in either side of the front bumper, in the
door rubbing strips and across the tailgate that usually
feature on the Attractive and Sporting versions will
also carry over.
The mix-and-match
continues with the vesúvio gloss black tailgate
spoiler taken from the Sporting. The "high gloss" black
effect for the door window surrounds is also
incorporated onto the Idea
Itália.
There will also be a special crest, featuring the
Italian flags mounted on the C-pillar trim.
Inside, the Idea
Italia will feature an exclusive fabric (though this is
unclear from the press images which appear to show the
standard finish) and the usual "bi-colore" effect option
for the dashboard with the chrome-style inserts which
will also be added. Under the bonnet there are no
changes while the Dualogic transmission will be an
option.
With the arrival of
the Idea
Itália
special series the minivan grows to become one of the
most comprehensive offerings in its segment in Brazil
with three engine options, four level versions (and the
option of the Dualogic transmission across the highest
three of these). The Idea Model Year 2012 range in
Brazil thus kicks off with the
Attractive 1.4 (R$ 43.980,00)
before the Essence 1.6 16V (R$ 46.610,00) and Essence 1.6 16V Dualogic
(R$ 48.720,00) kick in to bring the offering up to the Itália
(R$ 51.160) and Itália Dualogic (R$
53.270).
The range
is completed by the two niche versions which present
sporty and off road styling characteristics: the Sporting 1.8 16V
(R$ 55.280,00) and Sporting 1.8 16V Dualogic (R$
57.390,00) as well as the Adventure 1.8 16V (R$ 56.900,00)
and Adventure 1.8 16V Dualogic (R$
59.010,00).
