Since its launch in
Brazil exactly four years ago, the Fiat Grande Punto
(called the Punto on this market and only available in
5-door format) last been a very solid seller. This is
proven in its surveys – says Fiat Automóveis – which
claims to receive a high level of satisfaction from
Punto customers, confirming the attributes of the model
in terms of driving, cost savings, safety, comfort and
technology as key areas.
Starting from this week,
the Punto Model Year 2012, which is locally built at
Fiat Automóveis' Betim factory, arrives in the Brazilian
dealerships, bringing with it new features that aim to
reinforce its competitiveness in the market.
With a quite
comprehensive range – there are eight versions for the
consumer to choose – the Punto MY2012 in particular
improves the equipment offered on the entry-level
version, the Attractive 1.4, which comes with an
optional new trim package: Special Series Italy Kit.
This new trimming
option aims to celebrate the occasion of the Moment
of Italy in Brazil this year, which has the purpose
of promoting cultural, social and commercial relations
between Italy and Brazil and consolidating the
camaraderie between both countries.
The Special Series
Italy Kit, which is specifically for the Punto
Attractive 1.4, offers contents that highlight a more
sporty appearance and explore sophistication, with
16-inch alloy wheels, headlights with black masks (drawn
from the Sporting version), plus a colour-coded tailgate
spoiler. In addition to the kit of new aesthetic items,
the Special Series Italy Kit also comes with
air-conditioning, steering wheel with height and depth
adjustment, CD/MP3 sound system integrated into the
dashboard with RDS, silver finishing to the trims on the
central part of the dashboard, electric door mirrors,
fog lights and switchblade-style ignition key with
remote control to open and close the doors and windows.
The Special Series
Italy Kit has been priced competitively at R$ 3,500,
meaning that it is 45 percent cheaper than if the items
were to be purchased separately.
The Fiat Punto MY2012
is available in Fiat's Brazilian showrooms from this
week onwards and the range kicks off with the
Punto Attractive 1.4
priced at R$ 40,380. Then comes the Essence,
the backbone of the range which accounts for half the
specification levels available of the Punto in Brazil,
four.
It comprises of the Punto Essence 1.6 16V (R$
44,890), Punto Essence
1.6 16V Dualogic (R$ 47,630),
Punto Essence 1.8 16V (R$
46,710) and Punto
Essence 1.8 16V Dualogic (R$ 49,260). Finally
there are two sports-orientated versions, the
Punto Sporting 1.8 16V
(R$ 51,700) and
Punto Sporting 1.8 16V
Dualogic (R$ 54,260), before the
Punto T-Jet (R$
65,830) - which was added to the Punto's Brazilian range
in March 2009 - tops the B-segment hatchback's range off
on the Brazilian market.
