Fiat Mio, an
innovative project carried out in Brazil for the
development of a concept car based on an open
web platform, has won another award, this time
from the International Design Excellence
Awards (IDEA), one of the most prestigious
acknowledgements in design worldwide.
Fiat Automóveis,
the autonomous Brazilian division of Fiat Group,
was awarded in the category Design Strategy,
Bronze. This was the fourth year of the
partnership between Industrial Designers
Society of America (IDSA), the organiser of
the IDEA Awards prize, and Associaçao
Objeto Brasil, which organises the Brazilian
version of the international design contest,
named IDEA/Brasil, with support from and
in joint promotion with the Agencia
Brasileira para a Promoçao de Exportaçoes e
Investimentos (Apex – Brazil). Following
this honour the Fiat Mio project is now
forwarded to become an awarded finalist for the
worldwide phase of IDEA Awards.
Developed by
Fiat Automóveis in Brazil and introduced in the
Sao Paulo International Auto Show last autumn,
Fiat Mio is an open-platform project based on
ideas that were posted by more than 2.6 million
visitors from over 160 countries to the
project's portal during its formulation. The
mass of ideas on how the car of the future will
be were then materialised on FCCIII (Fiat
Concept Car III).
