Fiat's Qubo range topper, the "Trekking", will show off in Frankfurt this month some new exterior cosmetic upgrades, to be presented alongside a new "Nitro" special series that cements the relationship between this model and the snowboard manufacturer.

The detailing changes to the Qubo Trekking aim to enhance its "Outdoor" characteristics and comprise of burnished headlights, new two-colour black/aluminium side mouldings and a new protective shield on the rear bumper as standard. The cosmetic and performance features of the previous version continue to feature: special front bumpers complete with protective shield, the Traction+ traction control system and high ride combined with a under-engine guard to enable it to drive over rough ground safely, longitudinal roof bars, privacy type rear windows and alloy wheels with 185/65 R15 M+S special tyres.

The car to be displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show will be shown a new metallic 'wonky techno orange' body colour and a brand-new black/orange shade of the "SAIL" fabrics.

The Qubo is a cost-effective, passenger-carrying version of Fiat's Fiorino van. The most hi-tech feature of the Qubo's range-topping Trekking version is its adoption of "Traction+", Fiat's traction control system that improves traction over harsh and slippery terrain and costs far less than the conventional 4x4 drive, guaranteeing optimum disengagement performance when starting off.

The Qubo Trekking version has been successful with the European public, maintaining a sales mix always higher than 10% of the model total since its launch; it comes with two engine options: 75 HP and 95 HP 1.3 Multijet diesel engines, combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, which offers just 107 g/km of CO2 emissions (with Start&Stop system).

After the presentation of the Fiat Qubo-Nitro "show car" at the Bologna Motor Show last December, the "Nitro Kit" was developed in collaboration with American company Nitro, a manufacturer of snowboards. The Nitro Kit will be at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will go on sale later this month. In detail, the Nitro Kit consists of cross bars and roof box; 15" burnished alloy rims, personalisation with "Nitro" stickers, "Nitro" covers on the front seats, and a "Nitro Haze" snowboard. In short, the kit meets the needs of the sportier customers that want a practical car to be able to do all kinds of outdoor sports (thanks to the cargo box and a Nitro board) but without giving up styling details such as 15" burnished alloy rims, the exterior stickers and interior covers.

Since July 2009 Fiat Qubo has been the official partner of the "NITRO Road Warriors team", a professional snowboarding group sponsored by Nitro. Over the last two years the Nitro team has used six Qubos during their European transfers in search of the best locations to test the snowboards and a total of more than 200,000 km have been covered travelling in these vehicles.
